Default Charlie's New Cage Tour

Here's Charlie's new cage tour video. I have a bit of a croaky voice!

Charlie looked really sweet when he woke up! I love when their ears get flattened when they've just got out of bed His cage looks good, I would love a labyrinth house some day but for now I can't get one Amber will have to make do with a cardboard one. I had those fruit chews for my previous hamster Heidi, she loved the aubergine and carried it round like a dog! When she was younger and lived in a small cage with tubes she tried to do that with a stick through the tubes! I also use the chew ball things, my guinea pigs love them and demolish them but Amber and Heidi both needed a bit of persuading! The only time Amber has paid them much attention was when we had to leave her alone for a couple of days (with my neighbour coming in to check on her) and when we came back there was a pile of willow pieces!

I think it linked to the page rather than directly to the video. Is this any better?

Amber thank you. Yes he did look a bit of a sleepyhead with his ears flat, but they soon started to come up I don't expect I'll find the ball chewed much but it might tempt him to a bit if it has pumpkin seeds stuck in it The little wood carrot was a real hit!

It looks fantastic!
I like his labyrinth house. How did you attach the front legs to the house? I would like to lift Cookie's house so that he can tunnel underneath it.

I bought some 25cm dowels and glued them to the front so they sat just at the top of the house, but under where the roof sits. The idea was - the house was 10cm tall, so 25cm minus 10cm would leave 15cm underneath for substrate. I actually had to saw about a centimetre off the bottom of the dowels in the end though, so the house could sit just under the maximum substrate level (so there wasn't a gaping hole beneath the house!) and so the height it sat at lined up with the height of the lip of the cage base.

So I had two dowels at the front, one dowel at the side (but not too far back as the cage base slopes in), then the back and side of the house are resting on the lip of the cage base inside. That meant the house could sit well back and fit right into the corner.

I stuck the dowels on the outside rather than inside so they didn't get in the way of any doorways. I saw that done on a German website where they stick the legs on the outside - it keeps the space inside cleaner.

What a lucky little old man! Charlie is cute as ever and obviously very well taken care of! The cage looks amazing (as always) & I am completely jealous of Charlie's labrynth house...we don't have them in the US. I've seen it on Amazon, but not sure if it's the right size.

It's looking lovely!
Am I being dumb or does he has two types of substrate?! The carrot chew is very popular with Sweep too!
Oh my! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Peppa Pig egg cup!!!
Oh, hi Charlie!! You look so sleepy!!
By the way, what is that brown/black thing in the middle (in front of wheel) that looks like a tree trunk?
I wanted to get Sweep a Rodipet house, but had loads of trouble on their website as I had to copy each page into Google Translate, but for some reason it didn't translate the oage you get to in order to buy things! Plus as soon as I clicked the add to cart button and then translated the next bit it came back out my cart Oh well!

It's a tree trunk lol Well it's a kind of ceramic tree trunk with a hole in the front. I put his veg on top of it. Is it Peppa Pig?! I thought it was just a piggy egg cup lol. We got them years ago - a pig, a kitten and a homer simpson one.

The labyrinth houses are just a box with partitions in really. I reckon you could make a cardboard one quite easily. Or anyone whose good at a bit of diy could make one - cutting the holes might be the tricky bit. I love it and wanted to get one for ages. The Leif labyrinth house is good too but it's a bit small for a Syrian.
