Yes Hime like princess. Since my daughter wanted to name her "Princess" we suggested the word in different languages and she liked Hime best.
Thank you all, and yes is our adventurous one at the moment!

Re: Hime's Thread
Hime will be getting a bigger home in the next couple weeks! I took my daughter out yesterday and we bought a 40 G breeder tank for her "Princess". Today we ordered the lid and a bunch of accessories and treats for both the hamsters. My daughter will be going camping with her grandparents for the 1st week in August, and we are sprucing up her room while she is gone which includes building a base for the tank with storage underneath. With Hime being a bar chewer and climber the tank was my best option to keep her safe.
With all that said, I have a couple concerns. Hime gets super stressed when I try to handle or care for her when her hoo-man is not around. We handle her together almost every night for feeding and playtime, and she is fine with me then. So how can I help keep her stress level down for the week my daughter will be gone? I do need to move her to another room for rearranging and deep cleaning as I don't want her exposed to anything that could be bad if breathed in, and I feel the chaos could be too overwhelming. I am also considering letting my daughter be the one to place her in the new tank, would this possibly be less stressful to Hime?

Re: Hime's Thread
That's quite strange her being comfortable with you when your daughter is around but not when you're with her alone, she must be quite accustomed to you so I'm not really sure what to suggest. Maybe you could try doing the tissue thing so she gets even more used to your scent & see if that helps a bit, if your daughter is only away for a week & Hime is still getting stressed I would just keep handling to a minimum for that time, it won't hurt to miss out on a little play time if need be especially as you'll have to move her to another room too & that may well stress her a little.
I'd just try to keep her calm & quiet until your daughter get back from her trip.

Re: Hime's Thread
Hime did great the week my daughter as gone. After the first couple days she started throwing fits when I would feed her or walk by the cage without getting her out. We moved her to a 40 gallon breeder tank a few days before my daughter left as we figure this would give her time to adjust, but the little drama queen was not please with being "ignored"!

Re: Hime's Thread
So it's been a long time since I actually updated Hime's thread. At 14 months old now she is still a drama queen, but my daughter adores her! I guess I really do too. She's still super high energy and busy so has stayed thinner then I like. I was able to get her to stay still for a couple good shots tonight though. These were right after a snack of scrambled egg and white clover leaves!
