Re: Meet my baby WW, Larry-Jasper
UPDATE: So last night I stayed up quite late and as a result I got to watch Larry-Jasper race around his cage. He's a really keen digger, climber, runner, eater and hamsterer. He knew I was there, watching him, and he seemed very calm, even coming up to my finger at the side of the cage after staring at me. I've never heard of a hamster so friendly after 12 hours home.
Larry-Jasper seems very confident, after climbing all around his wheel (Silent Spinner which doesn't work ) so I had to swap it for a Flying Saucer which I think he prefers. He understands how it works, but he prefers to switch running side mid-run or run on the spindle . I swear he's crazy lol. He also stands up on his back paws a lot, front paws hanging in mid-air, and turning his head this way and that if you move suddenly or if he hears a weird new noise. It is the cutest thing. I have a picture at the beginning of this thread.
So last night I put out some of the Ella's KItchen Carrot Carrot Carrot baby food on a wood chew and in his bowl, and it all gone! I think it's gonna be a favourite. And because of his pedigree, I don't need to worry about too much sugar (although I keep it in mind). He's also picked at some of the mix but completely ignored all my nice, expensive chicken. Larry-Jasper has kindly done some re-decorating of his cage, starting with a hole to his nest, below the strawberry house, which is at the back next to his Flying Saucer and by throwing a carrot chew that was on a mini platform thing, picture here, onto the bedding lol.
I think that's everything so far. I'll keep this thread updated.

Re: Meet my baby WW, Larry-Jasper
Aww, he sounds so friendly - I believe they are handled from when their eyes are opened at TuftyFluffs so he should be very easy to tame
Haha I think you'll find that it's called a meerkat pose - it's just adorable, Willow never stays still long enough for me to get a picture but she does it all the time
Lol sounds like he might be a bit of a diva! I bought Willow some chicken, broccoli and potato baby food the other day and she wouldn't take a second glance! Not sure what to do with it now
Sounds like Jasper is a lovely little man and we can't wait to hear more about him

Re: Meet my baby WW, Larry-Jasper
Congratulations on your new arrival.
He looks very cute (and fluffy!) and I look forward to seeing more of him.
I've just got my second breeder hamster and it's quite clear from the start that they're used to being handled. Tuftyfluffs did quite well at the show at the weekend with her syrians but as she was judging she couldn't enter any dwarf hams.
Will you be showing your new lad?

The Aladino one is a very good carrier. I've got one for James and he finds it rather comfortable. Even Jessie, who can get a bit frantic with travelling is reasonably happy in one.
I've got to buy another one at some point.

Re: Meet my baby WW, Larry-Jasper
Yeah he's super friendly. He acts like a little meerkat lol.
Yep he's gonna be a little show hamster. I had my first cuddles this morning - he settled in really quickly and I couldn't resist lol.

Re: Meet my baby WW, Larry-Jasper
Here is the link to his new thread. Hi everyone. I'm creating a thread about Jasper in the Winter White forum section. All updates will be posted there from now on as this was his welcome thread.
Thanks
