Re: Fitch bedding-is this any better than Carefresh Naturals and where do you get it
Oh ok, I will get the 1kg bag, I am just worried it won't be enough as Nutmeg lives in half of a detolf cage.

I wouldn't bother with the 1kg bag it won't go far or be economical, the 10kg works out at a reasonable price & lasts quite a while.

Re: Fitch bedding-is this any better than Carefresh Naturals and where do you get it
I really rate this bedding for being dust free and also controlling smells without the addition of scent. It's easy to see the wet corner too as it gets a little darker when it's wet.
I used to buy 18 bales a time on a pallet until the did their recent price hikes. I've sinced switched to Finacard which I also rate well.
If you can store it, getting the 20kg bag would give you the best value and likely last one hamster months.

Yeah the 20kg bag is definitely worth the money and I think I can store it, is the Finacard like a discount card?

Finacard is like chopped squares of softish carboard Rat Rations sell it and you can choose a number of different size bags to try rather than just a big bale. I ordered some recently when I ran out of Fitch but didn't need it in the end so haven't actually used it yet. I think it could be good mixed with something else, but not as soft as Fitch on its own.

As above its shredded cardboard and softer now than it used to be but the hamsters need nesting material to go with it whereas they didn't with Fitch. But mine have had litters in it without issue and seem happy. Either bedding or a combination of the two work really well.

Lol not a discount card then XD As I will mix some fitch with the carefresh as she is on Carefresh now so I will need to mix them so she stillhas a familiar scent so I will see how that goes

Ha ha I guess you could always make yourself a discount card out of the Finacard It wouldn't help save money though unfortunately
That sounds good, mixing it in gradually. I think you'll like it. I get the 10kg bag and store it in the corner of the bedroom. I put a throw/blanket over it so it looks like a beanbage Lasts me about 4 to 6 months now I have the Barney (6 months when I had an 80 x 50 cage).

Re: Fitch bedding-is this any better than Carefresh Naturals and where do you get it
Yes the hamster would nest in the discount card! Nutmeg has the detolf. The cage is in the bedroom of the house and I have space in my wardrobe as I have space to move the clothes from the bottom large shelf, I think I will go for the 20kg one, shall I continue to buy the Carefresh to mix it in, I think not though. Do I need to buy any nesting material with the fitch and Carefresh like toilet paper?
