Default Steps to take with flu

I am coming down with the flu I think and I was wondering what precautionary steps I should take regarding my hamsters because I've heard they can contract it too.

If at all possible, have someone else feed and water your hamsters and any other small animals you may have (I think I saw you have mice).

I know it's not always possible to have someone else assist though. So wash your hands often and keep your time near the cages short. Simply feed and water and walk away. Try not to touch any of their food directly. No play time! Some that are use to a lot of attention might be put out, but they'll be fine for a few days.

As for you, lots of liquids and rest. Hope you feel better soon!

Urgh I hate the flu! Kelza has given some good advice. Might also be good to make sure you use either hand gel or antibacterial hand wash before and after doing the hammy food (if it smells strong wait a few minutes for the smell to go!)

Get plenty of rest, keep your fluids up to stay hydrated. Maybe take some paracetamol or Lemsip (but not together as Lemsip has paracetamol in it!). I hope you feel better soon
Though its always a good excuse to stay in bed or stay in yohr pajamas

Good advice there - stay away and if you can't find someone else to put food and water out, use antibacterial soap and hand wipes. I used to get packs of "Wet ones" which kill 99% of bacteria and viruses and the effect lasts for a few hours, so I'd use them before I started handling the food or food bowl or anything else in the cage. But use antibacterial soap for a while as well. Most of the Carex squirty soaps are antibacterial - I get the one for sensitive skin which doesn't have a strong scent.
