Blocked house
I know hamsters usually block off the enterance to their houses, but Sweep has totally blocked his off! He's never blocked it off this much before and I'm worried he may suffocate or get too hot. Should I unblock it a little?

Re: Blocked house
He may have done it because he's cold? I'd see how he is, If it's hot in the room then I would unblock it a bit.

Re: Blocked house
It is a bit warm in here I think - I say I think because the heating is on but I am usually cold even in Summer! I'll unblock it a little though as I don't want him to suffocate! He has loads of tissue in there too!

Re: Blocked house
I shouldn't think he'll suffocate - air can get through paper Charlie always blocked every door and window too.

He will be fine, Forrest used to build a nest and burrow into it until you couldn't see him at all.
Pip has covered her entrance to her house too..

Re: Blocked house
Air will still get in. He will dig out when he need/wants to come out of his nest.

Re: Blocked house
He'll be fine. Twinkle would sometimes do this.

Re: Blocked house
He's just turning his house into a burrow He must be very happy in there. You were right, the Alexander seems to be working so much better for him x

Re: Blocked house
Kashi does this. She digs out when she hears me putting out her brekky!
Looks normal to me. Arun does it too as do the roborovskis.

Re: Blocked house
I unblocked one of the entrances last night which resulted in a lot of clicking from Sweep! But he was struggling to get out, even though digging is his favorite hobby LOL but he hasn't blocked it up again - yet! I left the other sid blocked as that is the side he sleeps in
