Size all depends on how big the hamster is in length. If you have a hamster that is for example 5 inches long, they'd need a 10 inch wheel. It's very simple, just divide the diameter of the wheel in half

It says that a 6.5" Silent Spinner is suitable for Syrian hamsters . Is it true ?

That is entirely untrue.A Syrian would need at least an 8 inch wheel, with most females and large males requiring a 10-12 inch wheel.

The 6.5" Silent Spinner is only really suitable for dwarf hams SugarFairy, although it is bigger than it sounds it's not really big enough for a syrian.
The new design silent spinners don't seem to work well either btw.
The only silent wheels I've had are the Karlie wonderland, almost silent, silent runner, truly silent & a rodipet wheel.
I really think the silent runner wheels are worth the investment if you can stretch to it, just the patter of tiny feet, easy to clean & very well made.

The Silent Spinners only come in mini & 6.5 and 12 in. I think you mean the Silent Runner? That has to be ordered and it comes in yellow 9in and orange 12 in.

If you can get the orange 12 in your hammie won't complain. The yellow isn't really made for dwarves but for small Syrian but because the wheel moves so freely a dwarf can be very happy with it. I wouldn't recommend it for a robo though

Yes the Silent Spinner is the Kaytee wheel - white with a coloured band on the front - only comes in dwarf sized 6.5" or huge 12" and isn't always silent and doesn't spin that well these days lol.

The Silent runner looks a bit like a Wodent wheel but has kidney shaped holes and comes in 9" or 12". But they are quite light and easy to spin/run in and they are silent (they have ballbearings in).

I'd always go for 11" or 12" for a Syrian. The 12" one is 35cm tall on its stand and just over 30cm tall if screwed to the bars. So really you'd need about 31cm of bar height to screw it to the bars - it wouldn't fit well screwed to the bars in a cage lower than about 43 to 45cm. But it would be ok on its stand in a cage lower than that (ie higher than 35cm). It has a really sturdy metal stand and it's a safe one too - hammies can't get trapped between the wheel and the stand.

The main thing is, what can you get in Ireland I guess. Another member said things often can't be delivered there, unless its from Zooplus.

To be honest if you just want something better than the comfort wheel, and Zooplus delivers in Ireland, the 28cm Trixie wheel should be fine. Most people say they are quite quiet, but they have been known to rattle. But if you want something really silent it would be the Silent Runner or the Karlie Wonderland wheel.

I got my Silent runner on ebay. The Sugarglider shop in the Uk also sell them. I think even if an 8" or 9" wheel is technically big enough for a small Syrian, they run much better in the larger wheel and seem to find it easier to run in the larger one as well. So I'd go with the 12" Silent Runner (orange, kidney shaped holes) or the 29cm Karlie Wonderland wheel (plus sandpaper and plastikote!).

I reckon the sugarglider shop is the better seller if they're in stock - they are slightly cheaper and send them already assembled (mine from ebay needed assembling). But their postage is about £7 to the Uk. I think if you emailed them they would send to Ireland and give you a price - they are a small company, not like large companies.

Silent Runner 12"

This is the seller I got mine from on ebay - the wheel on its own is £26.50, so it isn't cheap (because it's imported from the US). Again I think if you email/message her she would tell you what postage to Ireland would be - I shouldn't think it would be much more.

Exotic Nutrition Silent Runner 12" Wheel AND Accessories Sugar Glider | eBay

But - I just noticed that Zooplus ie have the Karlie Wonderland 29cm wheel in stock which works out cheaper

Wonderland Exercise Wheel: Great Small Pet Accessories at zooplus

Plus say £4.50 for Plastikote and a couple of pounds for some sanding paper
