Robo Vs. Syrian and Hamster Proofing

Honestly the free roaming idea is great,as long as your hamster doesn't try to climb out and in that case you could probably attach mesh at a certain angle or just use cardboard instead which can't be climbed!

These are things you can think of later on though,which does complicate things as well as make things so much easier at the same time

$40 is a good price for a tank Was it the dollar a gallon sale? If you've done graphic design I expect a cardboard house could look pretty good! They sometimes like egg boxes to chew on as well, as toys. I put a few treats in the little indents in the egg box when I tried it. Unfortunately Charlie is one of the few hams who doesn't chew cardboard.

Looking forward to seeing the designer cardboard house.

Definitely clay pots for hideouts,your budget will love you even more when you use clay pots especially if you have a Syrian!Plastic igloos for Syrians can easily cost over 5 dollars,but a Syrian sized pot cost around 2 dollars which is a much better price however dwarf sized pots are even cheaper

Yes I think they must be high priced due to import costs. I don't think they ar worth paying $35 dollars for. Some of those Trixie houses are very badly made and people have found nails sticking out of some of them so they need checking carefully. I go for the smooth wood houses generally, the ones that are nail-free. But a cardboard house is probably more practical! We are lucky here that Rodipet in Germany ship to the Uk and they have some great houses and everything is hamster safe. My big labyrinth house cost just over £20 - which is a bit expensive for a hamster house but I'm hoping it will be the last one I need. I think people have made cardboard labyrinth houses as well out of boxes and shoe boxes.

It seems more like smooth wood on the inside with just a layer of bark on the outside,but I'll definitely check it over before I buy it.It might end up just being a toy for a playpen with supervision but as long as there are no exposed nails or anything I personally will be getting it.

I feel like it's very similar to bendable bridges.Yes,there is wire involved that can be dangerous,but ultimately it just takes a lot of common sense and supervision just to be sure everything is completely safe.

I will have to put some effort into this it looks like. Challenge accepted! I am off Sunday so after the house clean and Sirius time I'm going to work on some of the larger pieces

Actually it's the shop where I bought Sirius, I think its around 49 ish? with tax and all, but still a total steal for a terrarium. I haven't checked the petco here to see if they are doing the sale still, but I probably should come pay day.
