Cage and Cinnamon Pics
Hi again, here's the new cage...the tube that came with it was for a rat so we took that out. Once she's used to it we'll start adding some stuff - tubes, a bridge, a second level, who knows.
She's hiding in her house but she does know her breakfast/midnight snack time, and she'll still take a treat from my fingers. So I think that's good, and I keep trying to remind myself I'd need a little time to get used to my environment if two GIANT BEINGS put me in a new place, making strange booming noises about "wheel size" and such. (I'm assuming Cinnamon understands basic English but who knows?)
We did have a little playtime today and she climbed all over me so she def knows my scent.
Time and patience, right?

Re: Cage and Cinnamon Pics
That's a nice cage & a real cute hammie! You have my favorite wheel, the Silent Runner, although I have 2 yellow ones (9in) for my dwarves.

Re: Cage and Cinnamon Pics
Nice hamster. Hope she enjoys the bigger cage. What cage is it? The info may be useful to other USA hamster owners looking for a new cage.

Re: Cage and Cinnamon Pics
She's lovely
Those are nice cages, nice wheel too, I do love those wheels!
It does look very empty though, I think all the space could be a bit intimidating, with a bit more cover & more to do/explore she may be less likely to hide away in her house.
It doesn't need to be anything fancy, the tube is a good size but probably best to keep that out for now as you are in case she decides to nest in it.
Maybe just some cardboard boxes or card tubes for now, you could also try hiding some of her food in things like that to encourage her to come out more.
The house looks ok for now but maybe a bit small for when she grows, not easy to tell from the photo.

Re: Cage and Cinnamon Pics
It looks similar to the Savin Mickey 2 xl. Just a different colour.

Re: Cage and Cinnamon Pics
Looks like the Marchioro Goran, I have the Kevin which is similar, sadly no longer available in the UK but really nice cages.

Re: Cage and Cinnamon Pics
Only thing that screams out to me at first view of the cage is, be sure she can't squeeze out via the fairly wide gap on the one side of the big door as if they can push their head through they CAN and usually will escape. Also may wish to mesh the corners for the same reason.

Re: Cage and Cinnamon Pics
The rat tube may be useful once your hamster gets full grown. Syrians can get really big and a lot of hamster tubes are too small. If you give her cardboard toilet rolls or kitchen towel tubes it may be a good idea to cut the a slit along the length so it can expand as your hamster grows. That way she won't get stuck in the tube.
