It looks really lovely! I would go with big cage, big wheel, big house lol! Then if the hamster is a bit shy in the cage they have a nice big house to hide in and venture out and explore a bit at a time. I know our hamster didn't take a cage move well at all after 3 weeks.

The only thing I'd suggest, with all the lovely space, is more "head cover" maybe and more substrate. Can't see exactly how much you have in there right now but you could get another 6" in and then your hammy can burrow it it wants cover. And something in the middle between the shelves so it isn't quite so open there. I like this Trixie platform - it stands about 21cm high so would sit above even deepish substrate. Or a big cork log tunnel in the middle maybe.

Trixie Natural Living Shelter, 30 x 22 x 25 cm: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies

cork tubes, S: ΓΈ up to 10 cm: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies

Zooplus have some good tunnels/logs/tubes as well

The house looks nice and big - maybe you could put a bendy bridge over the entrance to make it darker inside.

Sorry - I've gone off on one. I think the main thing is they get time to adjust to their new habitat without too many changes.

Serendipity...your advice is always welcome. We did add more substrate ( I kinda ' staged' the set up for pics the previous day! Lol) but still...I think he needs more. As you can see from these pics, I put the 8 inch wheel in...but had to change it straight away for the bigger one. I shall be adding another platform coz I can see now he could do with more sheltered areas. I'll put some boxes in for now.
