My first hamster ever...over 30 and I'm like a kid again!
So this is Cinnamon - we had originally called her Nefritiri but Cinnamon seemed to fit her better.
She has a bigger house in her cage now, and was ok during playtime today. It's only been a few days though so I don't want to push her too hard. She did take a treat from my fingers though and licked me the other day so I have high hopes.
We think she's probably about 3-4 weeks, so she's got some growing to do.

Hello and welcome. It is exciting isn't it. And that wave of love and protection comes over you. She is very tiny! I didn't know they sold them that young.
Just make sure she has plenty of substrate and torn up white toilet paper to build a nest with, and she should be fine. Also try and keep the cage layout so she doesn't have any fall risks with her being so young. So no high levels or ladders with spaces between the struts

It definitely is! I thought they had to sell them at 5 weeks and over, but this was a mom and pop shop that breeds their own I believe.
PetSmart in our area is apparently having a terrible time with their small animal vendor.

Awww what a gorgeous ball of fluff she is
She really is very young so do take your time with her settling in & getting used to you, it sounds as though she's doing well but best not to rush her.

Aww such a little baby! She is adorable.
I'd say watch out for escape attempts. Looks like she could get through those top bars although the perspective may be misleading.
Congratulations!

Aww bless her, can't believe they sold her that young. She should still be with mum if she's 3 weeks old
Do take your time with her, she will probably be quite confused at the moment. She does sound like she's settling well though. She's a beautiful girl Congratulations on your first ham!

Re: My first hamster ever...over 30 and I'm like a kid again!
Thanks everyone! She's such a cutie. The photo does present a bit of an optical illusion, I read that the cage bar space should be small, ours is only a couple of centimeters wide.. It's a ferplast 2 level but we took out the top level. I figured one level would be good for now until she's more confident.
She'll come out of the house if she hears my voice sometimes. We only try to handle her about 10-15min a day, usually less. The scary water meter men were at the apartment yesterday so I'm hoping she'll be ok tonight.
She does wheel furiously but I'm thinking she has a lot of energy as a young pup. Suggestions and advice welcome!! I'm thinking to keep her on the pet store pellets a few more weeks, we certainly have enough.

Two centimetres sounds very wide for a hamster. Icm is the usual size. What cage d you have for her?
