Gender
Heyyy guys, this may or may not work but the pet store never told me the gender of my hammy. Apparently people can have an idea by the shape of them? My hammy is no older than 12 weeks old and that's all I know. I think I have an idea of sex but if anyone has an idea due to shape id love to know what you think

Re: Gender
It's the back end shape that will show you the gender. Girls have a more pointed back end and boys are more rounded but it's from underneath you can properly tell. The spacings of their vents give an indication and also with some species, Syrians and Chinese, the boys have a couple of *ahem* obviously boy shaped additions. If your hammy isn't game enough to hold and look undreneath, can you get them in a glass bowl or something like that and have a look underneath?

Re: Gender
Thank you I will do the glass bowl trick. I have a feeling she is a girl due to temperament and also I managed to see her tummy and I think I saw nipples however I'm not 100% if that's correct or not

Re: Gender
I thought most Pet shops will have a sign saying whether the hamsters are male or female.
Either way he/she is a cutie

Re: Gender
You might be able to check also when he/she grooms themselves when they are sitting upright? If it's a boy it will be very obvious

Nipples are another sign your hammy is a female but I think sometimes it's not so easy to spot them. You may also notice a change in behaviour every three days or so and slight smell, which is another indication of being a girl.
