Pixie's Great Escape!
Pixie escaped!
Here's the story.
It's deep clean of the flat day today, so I'm rushing around like a madwoman trying to get the flat ready for a hoover. I'd just swept the front of my flat (I have a small step into my flat which I like to keep clear as people just walk the bits in and my flat has a no shoes policy, so the dust sits in my porch, eurgh.
Anyway, I'd gone to look for my dust pan and brush after sweeping the entrance and I'd moved the bag I have next to my fridge, then out pops Pixie from underneath the fridge, in my head I'm like "no, that can't be Pixie! Someone else has a Hamster somewhere.." anyway, she'd ran back under at this time, making me also think I was seeing things.
Then pops out again, and I call her (in my head frantic, she could get under the cupboards and I'd lose her forever, also next to my fridge is a pipe for the radiator which builders hadn't boxed in properly), she turns towards the hole in the wall, so I'm about to run to the tub of meal worms also whilst panicking about this hole! She then turns back to me when I frantically call "Pixie, PixPix, Pixie! PixPox!", she then runs towards me, somehow I gather up the muster to grab her and she squeals at me once I have hold of her!
Put her back in her home and look at her cucumber slice, she hasn't touched it, whereas she normally leaves crumbs, so she's been out since just after I went to bed (I gave them cucumber about 9pm last night because I was tired and wanted to go to bed).
Then she's back in her home, has a munch, a good drink of water and with a fresh piece of cucumber, runs to her house. Comes out and climbs the house and proceeds to SHOW me how she escaped the first time round. I was sitting watching her, scratching my head as to exactly how she escaped, then she showed me! Needless to say, the layouts been changed and lids are being made for hers and Tinkerbell's homes as I type this by my DIY abled friend!
What I find amusing (although not amusing) is how she managed to get off an IKEA Kallax Shelf, get PAST Tinkerbell's cage without doing serious damage to herself. She's had a check over by myself and I will keep a VERY close eye on her for the next couple nights, her home will be going into the bath until her lid is ready so that if she does escape, she won' be going far, I'll have a bendy bridge leading back into the cage so she can always go back in of her own accord.
Pictures below
1) Pixie was just put back into her home & headed straight to her house and got her lecture.
2) Pixie buried her head "in the sand" after a little lecture.
3) Pixie showed me her escape route! (Thought better of it a second after I got the picture, would've caught her if she had got out!)
4) Pixie realises her escape route was foiled.
1 Mummy - 1 Pixie. ... I will win this war! xD

Re: Pixie's Great Escape!
That's awesome that you were able to get her back to her home safely. You and your hamster got really lucky that she didn't head for the pipe! Good news!

Re: Pixie's Great Escape!
Lol! Pixie the escapist, truly love how she showed you. So beautiful and very clever!
Glad she's safe and that your DIY friend is correcting the problem.

Re: Pixie's Great Escape!
Wow, Pixie you are naughty!!
In a way though, it's good she showed you exactly how she got out, so that it couldn't happen again!
