Question Plasti-kote Question

Hi, hope this is the correct place to post this?

I have plasti-koted all of my wooden hamster toys and wheel, I have given them about 3 coats. I used the enamel paint, which says it's safe for use on children's toys.

My question is that if the hamster chewed, nibbled or swallowed any of the plasti-koted items would it do it any harm?

Thanks in advance

I've used plastikote on a lot of stuff in various hamster cages. One of my female Syrians has taken to chewing her wheel a lot (It is plastikoted) and apart from being slightly crazy and hyper (which she has been all her life anyway :P ) I haven't seen ill effects with her and have never seen plastikote cause any problems with other hams I've owned and all except for one have lived to be around two years old give or take a few months

Thanks for your reply . I just wasn't so sure, not got my hamster yet, but I was scared in case it was a chewer and whether the plastikote was safe to chew.

My last Russian died a few months back, he was about 2 years 3 months.

That's a good age for a Russian hamster But I'm sorry for your loss. I've not heard of any ill effects from plastikote.

I think as long as it is the water based one (which will also say non-toxic) it is fine. Typical hamsters, chewing the things you don't want them to, ignoring the things you do

It is the plastikote project paint. It says safe for use on kids toys. But nowhere does it mention non toxic.

It's fine, it's the water based one. For some reason, I thought it had non-toxic on the label. Must be a different brand that I have.
