Default Male or female?!

So I got Rupert a week ago, all is going well! We're super happy. I got him from pampurred pets and they said all of their hamsters were males at the moment. Which was great because I wanted a boy! However I've not seen any sign of any testicles on Rupert! Are they meant to be obvious or not really? I'm starting to wonder if the shop was wrong? Thanks

They can retract them. Usually in cold weather. If he is young they will be less obvious.

Glowy's manly bits weren't that obvious at 2 months, they are now though!

The gap between the two openings is further apart in males than females. Erin has a YouTube video on telling males from females.
