Default Is it time? :(

My little Russian dwarf Cassia has been for the last couple of days not touching her food, drinking little and often, walking around with her eyes squinted and limping/shaking. I've seen this before in older hamsters before they pass but she has hardly gone 1 year old I've done what I can to make her comfortable until I can get her to the vet. Should I expect the worst?

Hi Kaialin, I'm so sorry to hear that Cassia is unwell. I would make sure that she has food and water close to where she is sleeping and that she is warm. A trip to the vets asap is in order and until they have seen her I'm sending lots of positive vibes your way. Let us know x

Sorry to hear this kaialin, your little Cassia does sound really unwell but at only a year old there could be all sorts of things causing this change & it may not mean the end so I would get her to the vet as soon as you can & see what they say, it may be that they can treat her, I really hope so & I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

What a shame she isn`t well at this stage in her life. Has she got like this suddenly or has it been gradual? At this stage I would see a vet, yes. But don`t give up on her. She may respond to an injectable for of treatment if the vet thinks doing so would boost her energy or help fight any bacterial infection she may have, although those usually have symptoms like sneezing/respiratory problems with breathing, eye discharge, poo being watery etc....listlessness.

Keep her in a warm room too because a hamster that isn`t eating or using it`s energy to keep warm will get cold quickly and won`t have the energy to fight. If she is suffering though, then it may be better to let her go. x
