Nutmeg's first experience in a hamster ball
Hello all,
So I have tried Nutmeg in a hamster ball for the first time and she loved it! I haven't got any pictures sadly but Nutmeg was running around happily and when I put her back in the cage she went into her wheel and wanted to go back into the ball but I didn't put her back in. I thought I would just put a little update in

Some hamsters don't like the ball but Nutmeg does, be sure to keep her ball time to 15 - 20 minutes and ensure she gets some water afterwards. You could do this a couple of times .

Re: Nutmeg's first experience in a hamster ball
It`s debatable whether a hamster is `enjoying` being inside a ball as they can only move it or sit in it even if they go in voluntarily. Most hamsters will because they are interested in what`s inside. Looking at it from their perspective, running or moving in the ball is all they can realistically do, but excitability and stress can also be a factor. We can`t know which is which. Personally, I would stick with the wheel and only use the ball as a lifting tool. Or if you must use it, decide if it`s actually a worthwhile excerise or because you have a ball, it must be used?
Personally I feel these balls were created idealistically and should never have seen a shop shelf. x

Re: Nutmeg's first experience in a hamster ball
We have two hamster balls but we don't use them. We have put Lexi in one a few times on the stand for the ball and she does run but I wasn't sure if she was enjoying it. She did go in on her own and we only used it when we were cleaning her cage. We just put her in a carrier when we clean her out now
