Yep, that's in here somewhere, but I thought you wanted an idea for a platform/shelf that could stand on its own

Ranchhouse cages on ebay have a whole range of wood shelves in different sizes or they can make one to the size you want

My Charlie lives in an Alaska, he mostly just uses that small house as storage space for his peanuts

Re: Any idea how I can wrap this?
When Nibble lived in the Alaska the house had to go, as he would never have got his bum in it he's too big! The plastic shelf is a bit flimsy, I'd replace with wooden. Ranch house cages on uk eBay have fab stuff and the quality is excellent.

Re: Any idea how I can wrap this?
The ranchhouse stuff really is good, I have quite a few items from there & love them, you could also get a nice big wooden house with a flat roof to double up as a shelf, if you want something to give better access to things higher up in the cage & help prevent bar climbing too the little wooden ledges from ratrations work really well with the alaska.

Re: Any idea how I can wrap this?
Ooh yes, why didn't I think of that - I have already done that lol. I have this house - it sits on the base of the cage, and is quite tall, so makes a good shelf and it almost fills the width of the cage. It says its for a rabbit but it is far too small for a rabbit. The top lifts off so you can check on their nest etc, without having to take the house out. Hence mine sits on the bottom of the cage, with substrate piled up round the outside and a couple of inches of substrate inside the house as well, so it is like a kind of sunken house - but it still stands quite tall in the cage. It gives you a house and a shelf. It's huge inside but Charlie moved his potty corner inside the house, so I have his potty inside it at one end and he has a huge nest at the other end.

I'm happy with ours and have an extra small shelf over the gap at the back, where the house doesn't go full depth. It's not a big gap, so a lava ledge or two might do there, or just a small ledge.
It does take up a bit of floor space - about the same as the Leif Labyrinth house, but there's still plenty of space left and it's a nice hide. The Leif house isn't quite big enough for a large syrian although might be ok if you knock out the centre panel. You can get smaller two room ones with lift off lids from the Rodipet online shop, but it depends on the size of your hamsters - I like the big one with the open space inside as Charlie uses all of it - he has 2 or 3 hoards, his potty and his huge nest.

Re: Any idea how I can wrap this?
Love the idea of the rabbit house serendipity.
I just put a wooden fruit box (the kind of thing that satsumas come in from green grocers) upside down in Fairy's alaska. It has given her another level. She has a bendy bridge to climb up to the top of it and her wheel and sand tray and water bowl are up there.
Will look at some of these shelves. They look rather good.
Hope Sid has enjoyed boxing day.
