Default I think Ronald is Dying

Hello,

I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong place and posting this after being away for a while. I have just checked on my dwarves and one of them, Ronald, is lying with his eyes open, breathing but not moving. I've spent the last half hour trying to coax him to move and offering food but he will just drag his body a little way then lie down again. He was absolutely fine last night and I saw him eating at about 10.30 pm. He is about a year and a half, but I can't be sure as I rescued him. He may be older.

I think I know what is happening here but does anybody have any advice? There is a vet close to us but it doesn't open until 9 am and I have to go to work. I'm a teacher and they wouldn't see it as acceptable for me to take a day off over this but if he's still with us in the morning I might call in sick.

My little Ronald. I wasn't expecting it to happen so suddenly.

I'm sure a 'family emergency' would be acceptable. I know schools don't like any time off but it would at least be compassionate leave. Or just call in sick!

So sorry to hear he is poorly.

Thanks for your reply. Ronald died during the night and we buried him this morning.

RIP my little man.

I am sorry for your loss. I don't know much about him but clearly he was loved and that is a good thing. RIP little man. Play well at the bridge.

So sorry for your loss bobbaham, it's a shock when something like this happens but you did your very best to help him, sadly sometimes all we can do is just be there to comfort them, I'm sure he had a good life with you & knew he was loved.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I just hope his brother Donald is OK without him as they've never been apart before.

Hello bobbaham. I am sorry you've lost Ronald. It's always too soon when they leave us. Donald should be fine. I've had a pair of hammies and when one passed away the other, Almond, did just fine. Play well at the bridge little Ronald.
