Default roborovski taming

I plan to get a roborovski for christmas (and a detolf cage!!!!) and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make taming easier? Roborovskis tend to be more skittish but I'd really like a hamster that I can hold (it helps with my anxiety disorder ) because no matter what I do darktan will never let me pick him up

Default Re: roborovski taming

If you want a hamster you can pick up, I really don't think a robo will be for you. Some will get tame enough to be held but it's highly unlikely that it will sit still in your hands. To be honest, most robos really are more of a "furry goldfish", they're highly entertaining to watch but you can't guarantee more than that. If you are dead set on getting a robo, I would say to help with taming then start it off in a much smaller cage. A detolf is huge & will be difficult to it to come to you & therefore get used to your hand in it's cage. It also helps it stop feeling so overwhelmed by space when you first bring them home. And then really it's the usual thing of the tissue trick and so on.
