Cat food

Hi all. Can I give my baby Syrian hamster some cat food? For some added protein. It's a top of the range one and doesn't have any crap in it. I'm changing his food to burgess hamster food as that has meat in as well and found out it's important they have the meat protein as well as the other stuff. The food he's on now is rubbish. He's not having the burgess till mid next week once it's delivered. Can he have the cat food and if so how much and how often? I think he's 8 or 9 weeks. They didn't seem sure. Thanks

What cat food is it? Be good to look at an ingredients list. They can't have anything with onions, garlic or leeks in is the main thing. You can give them animal protein youself if you like though, bit of plain chicken goes down very well.

Shannon is right about the chicken. Also mealworms can provide protein too. If you do the chicken along with his hamster food until you get the new food he'll be fine and won't need the cat food.

Do you mean wet cat food or kibble?
I give mine a piece or two of kibble now & then, a small amount of wet cat food (as long as you check the ingredients as the others said) is fine maybe about once a week.
