What a strange head
Well I'm back and all my hammies came home on Friday, I heard they were terrified of the birds but the cat and dog never bothered them at all. They are all settled back in, Yummy is once again bar chewing her way to freedom.
I went to the pet shop today to get some tooth brush chews, and I saw a cream banded syrian in one of the tanks. I was looking at him/her and thought what a strange shaped head it has, it was very short in the nose and has what I can only say was a very rounded, short faced head. Didn't look like a typical hamster shaped head.

Re: What a strange head
I could ask next time I go in and if the hamster is still there

Re: What a strange head
I'm thinking that it was just an extreme example of the short broad heads that breeders go for (as opposed to the long narrow type) and perhaps the hamster you saw was too far in that direction. Or maybe it was just really fluffy and the head only seemed to be that shape?

Re: What a strange head
Short hair syrian, but it was a very short, round head. Lol like I said if its still there I'll ask if I can get a picture, or maybe bring the little fluffball home xD *puts fingers together* I have two spare bin cages...

Re: What a strange head
Sounds like an abnormality due to poor breeding. Some people refer to hamsters with facial abnormalities as having 'down syndrome'.

Re: What a strange head
It does make me wonder if the poor little thing will just end up in the shop for ages, like little Tank was unwanted by most people.
