Hah, what do you know. I tried to post this but I apparently broke the thread. Soooooo here it is
Oh boy have I been very bad for updates. I must apologize, I have a hard time keeping up with everything.
Things have been busy here (obviously) and I very much appreciated all the kind comments on my last thread. x I probably won't post too much about my litters here, maybe if I get some time. Right now I'm sorting out where we're headed, especially given the gal who I was hoping to get some unrelated hamsters from gave me a bad taste in my mouth last conversation we had. We'll see what happens there. Right now my main goal is the establishment of the extreme dilute and yellow up here. We will be getting a car soon, so I might possibly drive down to the US and see what can happen with that.
For now, enjoy our little monkeys.
The oh-so handsome Amaretto, pouching some cooked broccoli. Yum!
Arya debating whether or not red pepper was in fact delicious.
The little minx that is my Banana Split (aka Neenorb, Nanner, etc.). She had me believe she was pregnant for some time. After three failed pregnancies, we've just retired her. That's fine, just means more cuddles! Keeping my eye on any medical complications but so far nothing.
Brulee actually went to live with a friend in Brampton, just north of me. Her little hammy passed away, and I offered her BruBru. He'll be coming back to be bred, but for now he's got a great home, in a detolf, with tons of one on one attention so I'm happy about that!
Cadence is still a pretty chilled out hamster, though she doesn't sleep with me anymore. She's absolutely massive and I'm sure will top Arya size-wise soon.
Caramel is still doing okay, he's not in pain, but he doesn't look great either. We're really surprised he's made it this far. He's over two now! He gets tons of treats and goes nutty for meal worms. Love my sandy puffball.
You guys all saw the cute picture of Dulce. She's such a sweet heart. She wakes up a ton during the day, really anytime she hears me puttering outside her bin. She's getting quite sizeable too. Must be something in the water.
Dusty is still house favourite to the OH, even if he provided no "heirs". I think the plan is to cross him to Dulce at some point, they both have very gregarious personalities and Dusty's head is a bit nicer than Dulce's. Maybe. We'll see.
Java has had quite the adventures as of late. We went to the cottage in September, and just before that we noticed she had some bleeding from her vents. She's on 2x a day enrofloxacin for it, though we fear she has a tumour, as when I palpate I can feel a small lump. She's too old for surgery now, so just comfort care for our little princess. She had quite the ball up north, as my nieces doted on her. She tried popcorn chips, pancakes, and tons of other silly things. Despite not being the healthiest, she's still in great spirits, and continues on making as much noise as hamsterly possible.
The grumpy old man Mocha, he thinks he's still a kid. He's seriously going to outlive anyone. Like Caramel, he's 2yrs+ but he doesn't even care. He needs a nail clip this week and he's definitely going to put up a fight. Lovely little cottonball.
Lastly is Toby (Toblerone, Tobiobi, Tobley, etc.) and he might actually usurp Dusty for being my SO's favourite. He is seriously the most calm hamster ever, and super super sweet. With Brulee out of the house, he's the tiniest pedigree pup, though was the largest in his litter. He's about 174g which is by no means tiny, but comparatively, to my chunky gals who range from about 195-240g he's small.
That's it! Cross fingers I get to introduce a litter in the next few weeks. Phew.
