What kind of dwarf is this?
Hi everyone,
I've been looking at adopting eventually, and I saw this little guy. I was wondering what kind of dwarf he is? He's at a Humane society and they list him as a young male with no other description. I can't do anything till November anyway, but I was curious.

Don't quote me on this but I think you will find that he is a Chinese dwarf, normally the black stripe on his back is a tell tale sign, also they are more of a mouse shape, thin and slender compared to other hamster breeds which are more rounded.

Re: What kind of dwarf is this?
A hybrid is a cross between Campbells & Winter White Russian hams, they can show the characteristics of one species over the other sometimes but hybrids get bred with hybrids so it's all a bit of a general mix up really!

Re: What kind of dwarf is this?
Thanks for the description. Are Campbells and Winter Whites the only breeds that can cross breed?

Re: What kind of dwarf is this?
He looks very much like the first Russian dwarf I had with the dorsal stripe along his back, so cute! Definitely a Russian Dwarf keith. Most likely a hybrid as has been suggested. They are such fun. Go for it. x
