all my hamsters have a nest in the corner, they learn to get really nippy if they have a house.

I voted yes - as Phoebe has a house and uses it without fail.

However - Shirley & Lola have a house too, sometimes they use it and sometimes they don't - at present they've knocked the roof off it and are sleeping in a nest/burrow next to the house & under the roof!

Merry & Pippin don't have houses, they have some nesting material in a corner under their shelves and make nests/burrows there.

So really I could've voted all 3 options!

I give all my hamsters houses and see how they react. If they use them I leave them if they don't sometimes I remove them. Often they will split them in two and sleep under the roof so I often just give them the roof part. I find new hamsters use their houses a lot - it is nice to think they feel secure in their little house - I am sure it helps reduce stress levels so essential in a new hamster. Often when I rehome a hamster I will insist they go with their house

Tinker loves his little house and seems loathe to come out of it

He always sticks his nose out of his bedding in the doorway for at least 15 or 20 mins as if thinking ... "now can I really be bothered"
