Gender?

Hi,

Can someone please tell me if my hamster is a boy or a girl? I think she's a girl but I'm still not sure. Thanks.

I'm not sure but I think that you have a boy! Girls are more shorter and rounded at the back.

Ahhh I can't believe "she" might be a boy!!! I was looking at him/her while he/she climbed her cage and I could see two small dots on his/her stomach- around 1 centimeter apart? Is that a prominant feature in boys? They were very clear. I also do see that his/her bottom is quite elongated. Let me know. Thx.

I'm not sure but i'd say you have a girl - males usually have a very prominent scent gland on their stomach(in the middle) and their vents (openings) are further apart than girls, the picture makes it seem like her bottom is longer/not rounded but that may not be the case

i hope this helps, perhaps you could hold her and gently check her vents and/or look for nipples - which are hard.to find but not impossible

I found a diagram to help you - it helped me when i mis-sexed my own dwarf

By the lack of and obvious scent gland I would say this is a female

Unfortunately the cage bars are right where the nipples would be visible if she was in a glass bottom container instead of spider monkey cage bar climbing

I'll try to get her in a glass jar soon, but not until she adjusts to her new cage. Don't want to scare her too much! I'll upload that when I can. Thx guys.

I'm so glad it's not just me that this is confusing!
I've been told so many times Zak is a girl, and he's finally trusted me to hold him upside down for a few seconds so I got a picture, I'm not sure what can or can't be seen but it's attached anyway.
