Re: how can you get your hamster to like you more
Hand feeding is a good way to start, so your hamster can trust you and associate you with something positive (food).
Treats are a great way too but you need to be careful and give them in moderation, especially store bought treats. I prefer to use more natural treats, little and often, suh as pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds (which are in most normal hamster mixes anyway, but they seem to be favourites).

Patience. I see from your other thread your hammy is young. He needs to learn to trust that you are not going to do anything scarey or that he doesn't like. Look at things from his point of view. You are a big scarey thing to him who can open his cage and invade his space. So be respectful. Let hammy come to you. This is where a treat is good. Be careful about cleaning and rearranging his home (cage) too much. Take him out using a mug or tube slowly when he is calm about it. Let him run all over you in a (dry) tub. Do the tissue trick-- put some plain tissue in your sleeve for a day then put it in your hammy cage for him to use as bedding. This will help him like your smell.

So agree with the tissue trick, it gets your ham familiar with your smell, so when you approach him he'll know your smell. Talking is also a great thing and it gives your ham confidence. Also praising your ham, like when he approaches you and takes a treat, be sure to tell him what a good and clever boy he is.
