It took my robo about a week to find his wheel! Give him time. He's still getting settled. Also, he may be using it when you're not around. Hector loves his sand bath but is in & out lightening quick

I wouldn`t focus too much on what he`s doing or what he`s not doing. Only he knows what he likes and hamsters in a new home can take weeks/months to settle properly and that means allowing them to do what they want. I leave my hamster to do his thing and I`m just there to feed, water and talk to him/stroke him and he likes things that way. When I had my robos I did exactly the same and they were just as happy to scoot about and be happy. Most people who can`t handle or `play` with a hamster seem disappointed because that`s what they want the hamster to be. But remember hamsters sleep most of the day and into the evening so most are not really happy to be woken up or disturbed. If they are, they can end up being biters or nervous.

Sand is not a requirement for hamsters but it`s a personal choice. I`ve had two robos who`s skin became dry using sand so I never use it now. Digging around in the substrate helps to clean their coats and they wash themselves a lot. x
