Unhappy Wheel too small?

So I received my first Viovet parcel today and I bought a few things including a silent spinner. I bought a 6.5" or 16.5cm wheel for my Syrian who is around 12cm long and he went on his wheel and there was a slight arch in his back. I don't know if I should take it out his cage because it was quite expensive and I don't want to waste it I would give it to my robos but they have no space for it. I'm really upset by the size of it because it said it could be used for rats. Could anyone tell me what I should do???

Deifnitely too small for your Syrian I'm afraid. If you could find room for it in your robos' cage it would be ideal for them. Can you send it back? There is no way that size wheel should be used for rats either. I would complain to the company that sold it to you.

there is no way a 6.5 could be used for rats, that is untrue. Unfortunately you will have to get a new one. You could get a comfort wheel, 12 inch. They are cheaper than silent spinners, 12 inch. Im sorry you were misinformed.

Okay thanks everyone. And oops I've mistaken the picture of a gerbil for a rat. The wheel is for Syrians and gerbils.

Well, it may have been marketed to them but it's still too small even for gerbils. Or especially for gerbils. They have smaller bodies but having to hold their tails over their heads can lead to the same sorts of spinal problems.

Yes, it is marketed towards them, but in no way shape or form good for their health.

For a syrian a 11 or 12" wheel is recommended. sometimes you can get away with a 8" wheel but your hamster is 6" so a 12" wheel should be given.

Viovet has pretty good customer service. A 6.5" wheel is too small for even the smallest adult Syrian. If the advert did say it was suitable for Syrians then you could try and make an argument for a refund as it's not fit for purpose.

6.5" is what I use for my dwarf hamsters. Definitely not big enough for a Syrian, should be 8" minimum, ideally 11" for the larger ones.
