My new rescued hammy
I volunteer at a small animal rescue which is mostly rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas but we occasionally get a hamster. We got a call from a woman moving overseas and was crushed she couldn't take her hamster. She was even willing to pay but the airline wouldn't take her. So the rescue director told her she would take her and find a good home. She then called me since she knows I'll take in almost any hamster!
So meet Cleo! She's 1.5yrs old and seems very friendly. She's a big fluff ball! She was thrilled to explore her new huge cage since you can guess the one she was in was tiny.

Re: My new rescued hammy
Hi Gibbs&JackBlack - congratulations on your new addition. Cleo is very cute and pretty. She's lucky to have found you to give her a new home. I'm sure her previous owner was very upset not to be able to move with her fluffy companion, but from what I have read on here from others, hamsters do not travel well on planes, even if the airline had agree to carry her, better that she is safe and sound in a lovely large cage.
Enjoy having Cleo and getting to know her better.

Re: My new rescued hammy
She's a lovely girl congrats! Yes one of the members here was relocating not too long ago and we all tried to find a way to relocate the ham reasonably safely. . and failed. Re-homing is really the only sure option, so lucky you! She's landed on her feet with you so alls well.

Re: My new rescued hammy
Congrats on your lovely new rescue, she's a gorgeous girl.
It must have been heartbreaking for her previous owner to have to let her go but it's so good she's found a nice home with you
