Ham sitter for May half term
I was just wondering if there's anyone in the North/NorthEast who could hamsit for the May half term week. I had somebody lined up but they've pulled out.
I could take Charlie with us if push came to shove but would have to buy a temporary cage quite quickly (probably a Duna Multy). We're driving to Scotland and staying in a house there. He'd have one overnight on the way up and on the way back, due to ferry timings, so it's not ideal but would take everything with us if need be and put all his current stuff in the Duna Multy overnight. The rest of the week he'd be set up in the house with us.
We're setting off on Thursday 21 May and will be back by Saturday 30 May.

Re: Ham sitter for May half term
Hi Serendipity. I live in Newcastle upon Tyne and would happily look after Charlie for you during that time if I'm close enough? I've got an old spare Zoozone 2 could put him up in if you don't want to cart large cages around?
I'm literally moving into my new house on the 21st though so he'd have 1 night with me at my parents house and then I'd take him with me (it's only a 15 min drive) and get him settled in my new place (with limited furniture atm so plenty of space for him to zoom around in safely). I'd happily meet you first if you want to 'vet' me hahaha

Re: Ham sitter for May half term
Oh that is really kind of you, thank you - I'm not sure the timing is great though thinking about it. If you're moving on 21st - I'd probably need to bring him over before the 21st. Might be just too unsettling unless he just stays in one house, but I'll think on it - thank you! We're about an hour and a half from Newcastle too, so it is quite a way - we're nearer the North Yorkshire border - it's a lot closer than Scotland though!

Re: Ham sitter for May half term
Oh right I really am quite a bit out of your way then aren't I! I thought you might want to drop him off on the 20th so he'd be in my house the whole time if you dropped him off on the 21st or 1 night at my parents if it's the 20th (sorry for any confusion, I should have clarified that!!) You could always drop him off on route on the 21st, I'll probably be off work that week because I'm getting my wisdom teeth out on the 18th... So if he does stay at mine I apologise if I also look like a bit of a hamster!!! lol
I do hope you find someone closer to look after him!! If not though let me know and I can give you my contact details

Re: Ham sitter for May half term
RachK that would be fantastic if you could! We are only about 20 minutes from Darlington. And thank you to Leila and Chonkers2 for their kind offers too - Newcastle is a wee bit far really and a bit off-route for our West coast journey.
He's in a 80 x 50 Savic Mickey 2XL - would you be able to squeeze that in ok? He's no trouble - quite happy left to himself and doesn't want to come out of his cage and never tries to escape (famous last words lol). I usually have to coax him out with a treat in a tube and even then sometimes he'll decide not to come out of his house.

Re: Ham sitter for May half term
It's Wonderful isn't it! Three kind offers and yes I am happy to have Charlie in RachK's hands. And he couldn't be easier to look after RachK - he loves his big house and is quite reclusive lol only really coming out after lights out - although sometimes he'll come out for a drink and a wander about 8am but very rarely. He is tame but not really that keen on being handled and would much rather be left alone lol.
And Leila and Chonks2 were so kind offering too! It has really put my mind at rest as the only people locally I could really trust are all coming on holiday with us!
