Taming a dwarf pair
I've already got an idea of how I do want to go along with taming the Russian pair that I took in on Sunday, however, as I'm not highly experienced with dwarf hamsters, I'd like to hear how some other owners go about taming a pair.
They do have differences in personality. One is more nippy, and dominant, while the other is more laid back. As they were both sold as 'Syrians', and their gender/age not known, it's obvious they have hardly had much interaction.
Any tips would be much appreciated as I want to start handling them as soon as possible, but obviously, I want to do it the right way, which will work for a pair.

One tip I've read multiple times is to cover a bit of tissue in your scent and put in in the cage so they get use to your smell, I'm trying that myself atm

Re: Taming a dwarf pair
I'd go the same routes as for any other hamsters, just don't keep one of the pair out for long without the other, don't handle one for too long without the other e.t.c to keep their scents as similar as possible

Here are some great taming guides!

I don't think she needs general taming advice, more dwarf pair specific advice and (going by the titles) it looks like those video guides are all based on single hamsters

Re: Taming a dwarf pair
I havent kept pairs in a long while, but I used to use a playpen so that they'd both be out at the same time so one couldn't claim territory whilst the other was out, and both smell of me/the same before they went back in the cage.

Re: Taming a dwarf pair
Thanks everyone.
Yes I was looking for something more specific to pairs as, I have to admit, this is only the second pair I've had, so I don't personally have a lot of experience, and want to minimise the chances of them fighting as much as possible.
Usually, the bath tub technique is what I would do. However, I'm not sure how they would cope with that.

Re: Taming a dwarf pair
They may be fine with it, if you put both of them in there at once they'll probably see it as a big play area We've done similar with dwarf ham pairs/groups before except using a playpen and its worked out fine
