Post Critters choice tank?

After the recent passing of my little dwarf nelly, I brought a syrian who I callee Derrick(not a replacement but for the company) and I've put him in the cage I had but I've realize it's an ok size but he needs more space so I was thinking of getting a critters choice tank the large (60x30x45).

I'm just wondering if it's suitable for a hamster? As most pictures tend to have it for gerbils? I thought it would also stop him chewing on the bars

That would be too small for a syrian, you really need something at least 80x45cm & preferably bigger than that.
If you're in the UK Zooplus is one of the best places to look for cages, the Alaska, Alexander & Barney are all good cages if he's a bar chewer then maybe something like the zoozone would be better but he may just be bar chewing because he's in a small cage.

I am glad that you have got Derrick for company after losing little Nelly.

I would definitely echo what Cypher has said about the cages. I have the large Critter Choice but it is used for my robo, Fey and she is very happy in it but I personally wouldn't use it for a Syrian or dwarf, not sure I would even use it for gerbils as they are bigger than most dwarf hamsters and they have different needs.

Here's a link to ZooPlus cages that Cypher mentioned, they do have some great deals on there:-

cypher and Artisans said it all really. These tanks are not what I would choose for a hamster mainly due to the weight and the corner shelving. I`ve read they can be annoying to clean as well. Not to mention pricey!

For a Syrian, I would recommend looking at what your budget is for a cage AND a decent wheel! Zooplus have some nice cages and they also sell the Wonderland wheel which is silent and large enough for a Syrian, so you could do worse than buying both from the same website and saying on postage. I like the Zoozone 2 perspex tank though as it prevents bar chewing and is large enough (100cm long) for a Syrian to have more than enough space including his wheel. x
