Which way does your hamster run in wheel?
This is a little thought that just occurred to me after playing around with wheels while ordering a new one for Charlie.
Which way round does your hamster run in their wheel? Charlie only ever runs pointing left (as you look at him) - so the wheel spins anticlockwise. Although when we first got him and he had this Rotostak unit with a far too small wheel he ran the other way round, but that might be because of the access to it being in a certain position.
Just wondering if Hamsters might be left or right handed lol.

Sherlocks both ways. Of course a hamster detective has to be able to spin both ways lol!

Re: Which way does your hamster run in wheel?
Bracken runs either way in her wheel and her saucer.
Marram runs mainly to the right on her saucer (anti-clockwise) but when in the playpen, she'll run either way on the wheel.
Rue runs anticlockwise on both the saucer and the wheels.
Fey generally prefers clockwise on her saucer.
Elynor is only just exploring her saucer, so not the time to say which way she'll prefer and I don't put the wheel in the playpen for her yet as it's too big for her still.
Arti.

Seems they are all different then. I'm not sure which way Charlie runs on the Flying Saucer I haven't seen him on it yet.

I don't think Flynt has a favourite way, any old way will do! Mickle mostly runs clockwise but sometimes goes both ways. Zephyr runs both ways & changes direction mid run which is amazing to watch as she does it so fast it's almost impossible to see!

Re: Which way does your hamster run in wheel?
They both go both ways bit Cleo does seem to slightly prefer one way than the other. It maybe that she prefers to face her nest so she can run straight to it? Recently I forgot to oil Cleo's wodent wheel after cleaning & we could hear it squeaking from another room. It had a different squeak when she changed directions & ran the other way We watched her on the camera to check if that's what the slight change in noise was & it was that!

Smokey runs both ways in her wheel, and both ways in her saucer - I wonder if they ARE left or right pawed? I know dogs are! When she's hanging by one paw from the roof of her cage, she uses her left paw most.
