Re: THIS is why I rescue...*possibly upsetting*
What a difference 24 hours makes eh? I`m loving the new cages and photos of them all looking much happier. You can see the difference in their little faces when comparing the before and after images. I`m liking the banded male. Really hope they can find a home with HC members soon or people who are hamster savvy. x

They are all gorgeous little hams too, here's hoping they have a really bright future & find lovely forever homes when they're ready

Oh thank you thank you thank you for the rescue! What lovely forgiving little creatures they are. Lovely to see them on their wheels in their new habitats. I am in love with the second girl, Miss Inquisitive.

I second the 'what a differnce 24 hours makes!' They really do look happy! I love all of them! The two girls are gorgeous and look fun and the boy reminds me of Charlie - he has those exact same expressions, although the colouring is a bit different. Kind of - yes I can be cute but don't forget I'm macho too lol!

Re: THIS is why I rescue...*possibly upsetting*
Just caught this thread.
What a difference a day makes, 24 little hours!
When I saw the cages they'd been brought in, I gasped in shock and then I felt so disgusted that some human being abandoned them in this state. But, thanks to you and your wonderful rescue, they have a second chance. Seeing the old & new cages is truly gob smacking, the differences are huge!
These little hammies are in the best care. Thank God for your rescue!

I can see little smiles on each of their faces. It must be like being in Paradise for them.

I don't think it's just the cages that have put smiles on their faces - it's you! I bet they love the way you speak to them and handle them.
I wish someone would make a TV programme about this - showing the difference the correct environment can make and showing the before and after as you have. I'm sure a lot of people would rush out and buy bigger cages.

The Rescue sounds like Paradise.
The trio were probably ignored and never spoken to. My 2 love being spoken to. I couldn't not speak to mine, I love their expressions!

Re: THIS is why I rescue...*possibly upsetting*
Thank you all for the kind words.
The hamsters are still doing okay. The golden banded male has interest of a potential home, but of course, I'm keeping them for a while until I know how they are.
The BEC is definitely the most scared. As their previous owner had children, I wonder if she may have been badly handled. I'm afraid I'll never know, but with time and patience, they will all thrive, I'm sure.
It is amazing to see the difference within a short amount of time. Of course, I understand that not all hamsters like larger cages, but when I get so many people saying that pet shop cages are fine because otherwise they wouldn't be sold...well...doesn't this show something?

Re: THIS is why I rescue...*possibly upsetting*
I don't see why any hamster wouldn't like a large cage as long as they have a house/hide in it to retreat to. Having said that our first hamster, 20 odd years ago, lived in a Rotostak, but we left it open and he had the run of the room.
