Question Difference in dearf and syrian?

My little nelly has died a few days ago and I'm missing the company of the little furry friend im thinking of adopting a syrian hamster but I'm wondering if there is much difference between a dwarf and a syrian in care?

The cage is plenty big enough and I have all the stuff still but I'm wondering if the way I care for them will be different? And their behavior? Any knowledge?

Default Re: Difference in dearf and syrian?

Sorry to hear about Nelly. With regards to toys & things, a lot of dwarf stuff is too small for a Syrian so you might need to get bigger tunnels & houses. And a bigger wheel. I have a robo & a Syrian so not quite the same as you are asking but I find I can leave things in for Hector to nibble on (such as a milk bone dog biscuit) but Cleo, my Syrian will wolf it down straight away so I have to give her less in that way. I guess the biggest difference is the speed, or lack of in a Syrian, they can still be quick & I know some members have lightening quick hams but still seem slow compared to a robo
