So in February, I adopted two dwarf hamlets from the local pet store. They are both girls, and yes, they still share their habitat. Sammie is darker wild colour and she has a fussy personality. She is also a lot smaller than Dixie.
Dixie is white with darker dorsal line. She is very curious and the first one to stick her nose out when I mess about in the cage ( e.g spot cleaning, moving things around etc ).
They do squabble occasionally but I have not seen them being real threat to each other, so I decided to keep them together as long as possible. They do make a great hammie sandwich
They live in a fish tank with bar cage extension. I realize that it is on the small side but it is only temporary until I move to my new place at the end of May. Then I am going to get them a 40g tank. This was the how their habitat looked like in the beginning.
Since then, I have changed the placement of tubes because climbing under 90 degree angle was too stressful for them. And I added a jar with a tube entrance as a sandbath. They love it!!!! Oh, and the ventilation in their tank is not a problem, when I am home, I open the top latches of the lid. Cannot leave it unsupervised though, because we have two cats.
Here are some fun videos of them messing about.
