Re: What's he telling me?! Spring cleaning and digging
Charlie says sorry no, not for all the peanuts in in the world. He can be quite stubborn. He also says that's not a funny joke asking him to do that and he thinks he's doing his best as it is. So I've let him off - sorry! I told our neighbour Charlie had cleaned his own house out and she was amazed and said she'd never heard of a Hamster doing that before. I don't think she believed me. Charlie says she clearly doesn't know much about Hamsters.

Re: What's he telling me?! Spring cleaning and digging
Charlie is a very good boy, and obviously a very clever boy, for cleaning his house out!
In fact Smokey has taken a leaf out of his book and cleaned hers too - she's got a box with plastic drainpipe tunnels through across the centre of her cage, and yesterday morning my Mum watched her pushing her shavings and Carefresh down one of the tunnels until she had a big mound there. It took her about an hour of steady work apparently! and it meant she had buried her sand bath and potty...
I suppose they would have to drag soiled stuff out of their nests in the wild...?

Re: What's he telling me?! Spring cleaning and digging
Yes I was wondering that too - if they had to drag stuff out in the wild - maybe they do, I'm not sure, but as their burrows are dug in soil they can probably just cover the wee corner with soil and it'll just fertilize the crops above! I have noticed Charlie puts substrate over the top of his potty. Well I'm feeling guilty now - I think moving the stuff out of his house was a message to tell me to empty his potty, because when I did it tonight, it was pretty full and smelly and so he'd started weeing in his nest and I had to do a proper clean out inside his house and remove all of his nest. Oh I do feel guilty. Sorry Charlie - I've had a temperature all week (and I was avoiding handling him). Still no excuse though, I could have asked other half to clean out the potty.
Well Shannon, he's still the lazy bachelor - just went to sleep on the sofa for 2 hours lol. I shall have to leave him in peace for a couple of days now I've given him a new house and a new nest. Sorry Charlie but that nest was so stinky it had to go.

Re: What's he telling me?! Spring cleaning and digging
I'm beginning to think Archie's igloo has the inside of the Doctor Who Tardis, the amount of woodshavings, toilet tissue bedding & food he has inside is way too much, I'm surprised there's room for him lol!
Also the other day I noticed him taking his whimzee crocodile in! This is his playmate, he loves his crocodile, he takes it about with him. Today, it's back guarding his wooden hidey hut.

Re: What's he telling me?! Spring cleaning and digging
Yes Charlie has his whimzee toothbrush in there, and this is where the problems started - there's no room for it so he started using his potty as a hoard and is now weeing in his nest. I'm going to start using potty litter again instead of sand as he always used the potty then. What he really wants I think is a huge dark house big enough for hoards, potties and giant nests. Which basically means he probably wants a totally dark cage with rooms in lol! Inside an even bigger cage the size of a room. Might get a bigger house when I get a bigger cage.
