Re: Jinx has escaped :(
We had a mouse in our house for a few days thanks to my cat and we were able to catch and release it with the bucket method, so hopefully it will work for you too!

Re: Jinx has escaped :(
Has wee Jinx still not returned? Fluffy escaped from the plastic crate we use for play time and he spent about 15 mins under the sofa before he strolled on out on his own! I wonder what tasty morsels he found under it with 2 kids in the house!

Re: Jinx has escaped :(
Theres still no sign of Jinx yet, i've been replacing the porridge and baby food daily and have put some of his substrate from his cage in the tubs/traps and a bit on the floor near a flower pot which is his in an attempt to lure him out with his scent and familiar stuff. :'/ I hope he comes back soon so i know he's safe.

I second Thin Lizzy's thoughts, you're doing everything you can & seem very calm under the circumstances. Jinx obv is loving his freedom but I'm sure he'll be back eventually. Don't give up & keep checking the food traps and his cage. We'll all be doing a Jinx-come-home dance for you!

Re: Jinx has escaped :(
Keep going with everything that you're doing. It's amazing the stories that are told about escaped hamsters returning after hope has gone.
Still keeping fingers crossed for Jinx to reappear very soon. He'll be full of his adventures when he does return.

Re: Jinx has escaped :(
During the last of Bobba's many escapes we searched the entire house and I'd sat down in despair when I heard a snuffling noise; she'd been in the cupboard underneath her cage the whole time! So don't rule out the obvious places. I would also check behind large pieces of furniture if you haven't already, like fridges. Bobba often tries to get behind the washing machine.
Another tip I picked up was to leave a specific number of treats in each room (for example, three sunflower seeds) then shut all the doors. He will likely come out for food eventually and if you know how much food was in each room you can at least narrow down your search to that one.
Fingers crossed for a safe return.

Re: Jinx has escaped :(
Have you looked in every dark small corner, what about cupboard & wardrobe?
I'd be bald with pulling my hair out!
