Question Bird perches?

Hey I have two winter white Russain dwarf hamsters and I have found so bird perches ( a roll of cardboard covered in sand) and I was wondering if I could put it in their cage??

I'm not completely sure if they'll be safe or not to be honest, I'm not very familiar with most bird perches. That said, going by the general build and agility levels of most russians I'm not sure they'd be able (or inclined) to do much with bird perches anyway I'm afraid.

I''d have to agree it doesn't sound ideal for a russian, without seeing it it's hard to say if it would be safe or not but they are a bit clumsy bless them so it may best be avoided.

I'm not sure that would be safe for hamsters, I wouldn't use it.

I do have a couple of Y-branch perches meant for birds, they are just thin branches with the screw attachment for the bars. Bracken uses hers just as a stepping point from her ramp, onto the roof of her house but Rue ignores her branch.

I would be wary of the ones you describe because of the sand as the roughness could damage a ham's little paws, especially if it was trying to grip the perch. I think on reflection, those types of perches are best avoided all together.
