Default Poor Coulthard

Coulthard came to me from Morag (Babyboos) who offers a taming service. Coulthard was quite a timid hamster as he is only young. Coulthard's owners had bought 3 hamsters including Coulthard for their kids and all 3 hamsters were in need of taming.

I told Morag I'd look after Coulthard and try my best to tame him as much as possible - bearing in mind that he is quite young and it may take a long time to tame him.

However I was quite angered to find that the owner no longer wants him because the kids are fine with just 2 hamsters.

What particularly angers me is the fact that this hamster has been specifically bought from a pet store and now because they don't want him he is left unhomed.

What do you guys think? He may be a bit on the jumpy side still but he is an adorable boy. I'd certainly have him if the boyfriend would let me but I don't think he would.

It is so sad, but I know deep down I would rather he got a good home where he was cared for than back with a family who just have too many hamsters and the younger boy is just not really old enough to look after Coulthard. He is only 8 and mum is scared of rodents, which makes you ask why did she let their dad get them a hamster each, but they are separated (parents) and I am sure it is hard on everyone.

I think it's not fair that they should buy a hamster and then decide they don't want it! But then I suppose he would be better off somewhere else anyway where he is really wanted and loved! He looks like a lovely hamster and I am sure somone will adopt him soon!

This is basically what happened to Gerald. My husbands co-worker who baby sat him said that the family didn’t seem to care for the hamster and the children took no interest. She was going to ask the family when they got home from their vacation if I could have him. When she asked, the children said no, but it was about a month later I believe that my husband came home with poor Gerald in a cardboard box. The kid’s just didn’t want him.

Lucky for him he gets to sleep all day and have lots of yummy treats and a nice quiet place to live. And what’s most important is he’s with someone who cares about him.

Poor hams in the world.

Ahhhh, poor Gerald. He is such a lovely hamster! At least now he is somewhere with someone who loves him and cares for him. He is such a lucky ham!

That's settled - I'm gonna keep him!!

He's been through enough and is really warming to me it would be a shame to give him to a new owner and unsettle him.

He is however to be named Black Francis, my boyfriend Nick named him after the Pixies singer

Yay! I'm so glad he now has a loving home, and even better, it's with you! I'm sure he'll be overjoyed to stay! :P :P :P

Honestly. Hasmters aren't toys. People make me so annoyed sometimes. I'm glad you're keeping him instead of sending him somewhere he's not wanted, though.

Oh there was no doubt he would end up somewhere wanted once Debs got hold of him, I don't think either thought it would be with her but I know he is in the very best place possible now and will be a happy chappie
