I found something amazing yesterday! Lol
I was in HomeSense, looking around the pet section as I do and they had Rat Exercise Balls.. For £4!!!
At first I thought they were broken or something but I had a look and all was fine
Its by Pet Brands, it also comes with a stand
If anyone has a HomeSense near them then have a look!
Ooh! I've been trying to find a rat ball and not had much luck with the couple I tried. It looks good on the photos - no major gap round the centre join and slits not too wide. Are there are protruding sharp bits inside?!! (That's been my bugbear). Virtually no shops near us, I have to do everything online. Newcastle and York seem the closest but they're probably out of town so it would mean a full day trip! Shame they don't have an online shop.
So far I have tried the Savic 25cm - which is a well made ball - excellent - but I reckon needs a bit of diy.
The Beeztees 30cm ball by Kaytee I think (they don't do a 25cm one) and the slots were way too big.
The PPD 25cm one from Viovet - not as well made as the Savic one and still had some bad manufacturing sharp bits inside.
The Van Ness 19cm one which I'm also sending back - it seems no bigger than my current 17cm one and is very flimsy - rubbish.
Ok I know I'm being fussy - lots of people are happy with the Savic one.
I'll see if I can find the Pet Brands one on ebay. Yes it's there! But at a cost of £19.99 on ebay! I've also seen a 'Harrison's' rat ball on ebay - anyone know what they're like?

As for anything sharp, I can't say i can see anything too sharp! Other than the door openings, and the little bumps that hold it together, there doesn't seem to be anything too worrying.
It is put together with little screws on the side which I've never seen before, it's very secure
It comes in two pieces and the screws in a little bag
All you have to do is line it up and then use a screwdriver to put the screws in, it's really quick and easy!
