I'm sure that's not it, he just needs to build his confidence up and learn the door means out of cage time
You could always take the bars off, I bet he would climb out of the base, and once he's scaling the rim your hand would miraculously appear to help him scale the peak

I've got very little experience with taming so I don't really have much in the way of suggestions. He's not been with you very long yet, just give him time and keep bribing him with food

LOL thats whats i thought. due to him peeeing on the wood house , (and i didnt plastiokote that one due to it being 'real wood' silly me! im guessing i would have to get rid of this now? and maybe give him a upside down sputnick (plastic and wipeable)

Last night he was running on his wheel and just kept pooing , pooo machine!

Thanks for replying, i think it more as he was held when we bought him, i didnt want to backtrack (its not us putting effort in) but then on other hand dont want to force/scare him. never realised how complicated it is LOL

Thanks ladies as always <3

The Alexander should have come with a couple of wooden houses, well four in your case, 2 with the faulty cage and 2 with the replacement one You could always plastikote one or two of those for Spot. In my experience Sputniks are great for hiding treats in, something to climb into to investigate, they are added interest in the cage but they don't get used for nesting in, Willow and Ebony have never used theirs even to rest in for a minute let alone sleep in lol so I wouldn't suggest making a Sputnik the main nesting house.
Having said that I wouldn't take the leif house out yet either, Spot is still settling in and gaining his confidence, taking his home away from him now could cause a major setback for him.
I'm having the same problem with Hazel, she is peeing in her nest house too, but at the moment she has a plastikoted house which came Ebonys cage that wasn't being used, and a plastikoted one that came with her cage, I bought her a leif house but haven't given it to her yet because I knew she would need training Willow and Ebony litter trained really easily, I just put their toilets where they chose to pee but Hazel is peeing in the house which isn't big enough for a toilet, and she pees in her wheel too, dirty girl lol

As for taming, I know Spot was hand tame when you collected him, which was why I suggested letting him come to the door and climb out onto your hand of his own free will, and I still believe this is achievable, but it takes time and patience
I've used this method with both Ebony and Hazel and it's worked for them both Willow isn't great with hands, she is tame and very interactive, she will take treats from me and comes to the cage door to see me and I can pick her up but she is obviously not comfortable with it so I have followed her lead, when she comes to the door I hold her open ball there for her which she readily climbs into, she will then happily climb out of that onto my lap and she likes to be stroked, she just doesn't want to be picks up or held

On the other hand you could use the usual taming method, wait for him to climb into a tube etc in his cage and then block his exit and lift him out, or place an exercise ball in his cage and wait for him to go in and then lift him out, once he's out of his cage you could then use the bathtub method

Whatever you decide to do though remember this is really really early days, he's only been with you for 5 days, Rome wasn't built in a day, time and patience is the key

Don't know if this will help with the peeing in the Lief house problem but when I first got Ziggy he chose to pee in the smallest room! That little bit in the front middle & I found that the square tins you can get from Lush for the massage bars fitted in there perfectly so I tried that (once I'd got rid of the Lush smell!) & he was happy to use that as a litter tray.
When I got Flynt I kept the same set up & he used it from day one.
Might be worth a try if the house isn't peed on beyond repair!

After re reading my post i sound crazier than i am.. lol (i hope) anyways i think my main fear is doing something wrong i can do patiencee

So Thank you all!

Regarding the house sounds awesome! i did think of buying the same house again but plastikoting that one then swopping it over (so it the same) would that work

Oooh Cypher i get to go shopping? ~runs to lush~ Thanks for the tip!

Im back to sitting outside The Royal Highness Spot cage waiting for his attention hahaha

i have a small bit of carrot for bribary!

So regarding spot checking is that a daily thing i have to do? aka getting rid of his food stash/ toilet or as spots new wait till full clean and walk round with peg on nose (bit dramatic)

Lol i feel like a new mum again when i 'know it all' yet ask moronic questions that are obvious when reading back LOL just roll your eyes at me!

<3 Thanks as always!

Don't get rid of his food stash! He really wants to keep that, even when you do a cage clean you should put some of that back or replace it with a little fresh food, if he pees on it then you will have to take it out but otherwise always keep some of his stash, hoarding food is one of those things hams live for lol!
At this stage you probably do need to do daily spot cleans, if he learns to use a litter tray it gets a bit easier as you can then just clean out any clumps in there daily & that's about it.
I know what you mean about feeling like a new mum lol! you'll soon find a routine that works for both of you though.
