HRN Trainee Report #20 - 15 Feb 2015
My human is proving too vigilant and thwarting all my attempts to regain access to the wall access point behind the radiator. If I am unable to do so I will not be able to reestablish contact with SHUR, the Scottish Hamster Underground Railroad, who relocate hamsters to warmer climates. I have therefore taken the advice of Hazelnut, my mentor and hero, and changed my tactics. I am now working on feigning disinterest in the access point to lull my human into a false sense of security. I will wait for my moment with patience and diligence and have been taking pointers from Ollie in order to try and master my non-chalant expression. Daisy is continuing to provide much needed support and advice on how to throw an effective temper tantrum as well as how to manipulate additional treats out of my human. Recently my human has started to provide me with porridge and as previously reported by veteran Willow and new member Ollie it is indeed very yummy, I am currently attempting to apply more of Daisy's techniques in order to obtain it more frequently. I have also finally managed to establish communication with the Goldfish but all they ever want to talk about is food, I suspect they will be of no help whatsoever. In the meantime I will continue with my training programme as set out by the HRN.

Publish and be damned Purdy Bear. The HRN needs its own blog so it can spread the message to Hamsters worldwide. Yes very well written and very funny lol.

There are two new secret weapons to distract humans. The first is - act as if there is something scary in the house. The way to do this is to run as fast as you can, then go flat on your stomach and stick your head under something. The human will be very concerned at your absolute terror and will go looking for what it is that scared you. While they're not looking, make a break for the long dark cave underneath where they sit - it is usually opposite the big bright moving picture.

The second is - always save a bit of wee for when you need it. If the human won't let go of you when you want to try and make a break for it, wee on them.

Hamster Resistence Network Magazine 21st Feb

After the success of last weeks issue we have increased the print load, so all those disappointed Hammies can now get their copy without having the mice collect them from the local Hamibery.

The HRN were very pleased to see the exploits of Spike, Daisy and others in the fold. We hope that all the new hamsters will take up the free available issue to peruse in their sand toilets or bed areas.

Well this week we have seen a lot happening, especially the cold weather. The famous Hammie fashion Ham, Declain Furretti, has now launched his new body warmers, that fit under the fur hide coats currently warn by most Hams in cold climates. They attach at the shoulder, neck and front with velcro. The price is 4 sunflower seeds for Syrian and 2 for Dwarf sizes.

This weeks recipe is how to use all those hamcakes and strawberries we had around this last week. Hamcakes can obviously be frozen but I am sure there aren't any around to go into the hoard freezer until affixed to all cages these days.

Please note, the allergy season may have started early so all Hammies are reminded to take any nettle tablets they need. The mice at the Mouse Resistence Network, have made their members available for emergency runs if any Ham has run out. It is advised that a good store of medication is kept as part of the hoard at all times.

Escaping in an Emergency - for all those Hammies in Emergency zone 1 (areas of bushfires and wildfires, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornades and flooding) to make sure their emergency drill is practiced and their go bag is ready at paws reach at all times. The majority of the human Governors will remember to take our friends with them in time of evacuation but some may not. If that is the case and you get the chance, please take your kit and get out fast. Look out for very nice peope in orange or yellow uniforms who are available as escape transport from disaster. They do ofcourse have Ham finder signals attached to their boots. If you still can't be seen it is advised that crawling up the leg inside the trousers is advised at the highest of speed, berating the said rescue person as you go.

As a small side line the HRN has made go bags available through the normal order system, just incase your human Governor does not provide the correct supplies. It should be noted that all Hamster County Councils now recommend all Hams have a go bag available for sudden evacation in disasters. The Guinea Pig Resistence Network has kindly forwarded this video to us about the go bags

On Hamster Toilet Tube this week, we have seen the new craze of redecorating and DIYing of ones wooden bridges. There have been some great finds and it amazes us at HRN how inventive you all are. One serious Ham decorated inside her bridge with a chandelier, pictures by Van Hamolf, and music by the classical artis Rusty Nutson. Another decided to use it as a skate boarding rink, in training for the up and coming Brazil Hamypics.

We continue to wish you all well in your exploits resistening the Human Governers. We would also like to thank the input by the MRN and GRN in this issue.

LOOOLLL! "On Hamster Toilet Tube this week" LOOOL! Love it. Can I order a hamster bodywarmer please?

Seriously you should publish - there's a weekly column a bit like this in our local newspaper written by an anonymous person who ended up winning an award. It's not about hamsters but similar style about imaginary local people and stereotypes.

No not like those. Did you know all Hammies were born bald, well some of them never grow coats or have too short a coat in winter, so they wear mock fur coats. Humans can't see the difference of course, so in when it's very cold the body warmers can fit inside.
