Need help with Sora
Sora is starting to develop some bad habits, firstly, when we carry her, she's now prone to leaping from your hands, she'll wriggle free and try to dive out, when you're putting her back she will literally jump out of your hands as soon as your hand is inside of the cage. When we first got her she was completely fine and also she's okay when you're handling her and picking her up it's just the carrying. I cup her in my hands to try and make it safer but obviously she's pretty big so sometimes she can get free, luckily though she's only ever jumped onto my sofa and then into her cage.
Secondly, she keeps climbing on her bottle stand which is squishing her bottle and causing the water to come out. I know she does this for attention but I'm not going to give her attention when she does this as I'm trying to get her to stop as it's breaking her bottle and frankly I'm scared she'll get her paws stuck in the tiny air holes at the top of the cage. I'm going to find a new way to attach it such as using Velcro which I'll probably get on Tuesday. When we see her climbing on it we blow in her face (not extreme of course) and move her from the bottle.
Anyone got any tips on either of these things? Other than that though she's such a lovely hamster, I'd just mainly like to get her to stop leaping from our hands when we're putting her back.

Re: Need help with Sora
Hi Ruby. Put her in a cup to transport her to and from her cage. Let her jump out of the cup once it's in the cage, or better yet, walk out if you tilt the cup on its side once you have it in the cage. Just cover the cup with your hand as you are walking with her. You can also have her go in a tube and transport her to and from her cage that way. It would be helpful to see her cage so we can get an better idea of what is going on with her water bottle.
Nevermind. I forgot, you have the bin cages for your furries. Hmm, velcro just may be the way to go for Sora. :-/

I still use the cup from my scale to carry Almond in. Little guy will still nip at times, so I avoid all that by using the cup. He gets treated to chauffeur service...what's not to love?

Re: Need help with Sora
When Archie was chewing his cage bars, it got so bad and so hard to ignore, I got a waterpistol bottle type and put water in it. I would spray it on him from a distance just the once then walk away from him and ignore him. After about half a dozen times he finally stopped. Her does bar chew from time to time and I now use cardboard and he'll gnaw away at it for a few minutes then give up.
I know it can be hard to ignore them but, it's the only way.

The cup transport is a great idea. Something I'll be using for Twinkle who doesn't keep still either!

I blow on my ham's face when they try to wriggle out while I'm carrying them although it won't work anymore once they're used to it.
