Talking My hamster's Thread (pic heavy)

I decided i wanted to make a group thread for all of my hamsters a couple of months back but never got round to actually doing it. The timing isn't great right now as two of my hybrids passed away recently but I'll still include them in this thread.

First up is my first ever Hamster, a male Syrian named Patch. Basically one of my friends had a ginger female Syrian and after visiting her house i decided to get a Hamster because they seemed easy to care for I knew nothing about Hamsters but went through with getting one without doing any research. My sister bought him for me from PetsatHome on the 7th of Sep 2013 and he was the only black and white Syrian there at the time. The person who sold him to me didn't check his sex so i was lucky to end up with a boy like i wanted. I made a bunch of mistakes like keeping him in a Rotastak for 3 months but he's now in a 110litre bin cage with a 12" wheel and toys. He gets lots of out of cage time and first dibs at anything Syrian sized He's made me worry a lot during the time I've had him (1 year, 3months) but i love him very much. Heres some pictures of my cheeky boy:

Next is my first ever dwarf hamster, Pyro. I got him from someone off Facebook who apparently rescued Hamsters. He came to live with me on the 23rd of May 2014. His cage was tiny and all he had was a wheel, house, bendy bridge, food bowl, sand bath and water bottle. His cage was filthy when he came to me and it stunk so i had to clean it out which probably scared him quite a bit. I used a storage box i had as a taming/ playtime box for him but he always bit no matter what. I had to keep him in the small cage for 2 weeks while i saved up money for a Wilkinson's 62litre storage box. I felt much better when i knew he had a decent sized cage but even with a bigger cage he still bit thus earning himself the title of My Little Biter. He passed away on the 15th of December 2014, I'm not sure why but i was able to be with him during his last moments. I still miss him but i know he's playing at the rainbow bridge happily. Here's some pics of my little biter:

Next is my second dwarf hamster (and first ever female hamster), Cobra. I got her off the same person i got Pyro from on the 24th of May 2014 and like Pyro she had a small cage with a wheel, bendy bridge, food bowl and sand bath. She had a wooden chew log and a pink child's mitten which was fluffy inside and full of poop and urine. Needless to say i binned it and gave her a little cardboard cup instead. Cobra spent the first 2 weeks with me being referred to as a boy because she wasn't tame and i was told both of them were boys. Cobra also got a 62litre storage box like Pyro and a silent spinner. She always screeched at me to begin with but after taming she became a happy lil' girl who was very curious about everything. She passed away in the early hours (5am ish) on the 27th of December. I'm going to miss her, despite never wanting a female hamster (i prefer male animals) I'm glad to have been able to have her in my life. Her and Pyro are playing at the Bridge together, like brother and sister. Here are some pics:

Lastly is my newest addition, another Hybrid dwarf named Jinx. He was advertised as free on preloved and although i was hoping to get a new Syrian, he came to live with me instead on the 11th of December 2014 and i don't regret my decision one bit. He came in a decent cage, an unmeshed ZZ1 but only had a wheel, house, food bowl, water bowl and a tiny ball meant for a robo i assume. I cleaned his cage the same day i got him because it was messy and stunk. Once the cage was cleaned i kept everything the same (mostly) but added in a couple toys and a sand bath then left him alone to settle. The next couple of days i only disturbed him to change his food and water. I offered him my hand the other day and he climbed right on but i freaked thinking he was gonna bite and tilted my hand and he slid off. When i realized he was only climbing on i apologized to him, gave him a treat and offered my hand again. He climbed right on and didn't seem too scared. We're still making progress and i recently changed his wheel. He had an 8" Trixie wheel but wasn't using it much so i gave him Patch's old 8" PetsatHome wheel and i see him using it a lot more.

P.s sorry about the layout of this thread, i don't know how to do it any other way

Anyway Here are some pics:

What a gorgeous thread!

RIP Pyro and Cobra - such cuties! To lose them both in the space of 2 weeks is awful but, they're together once again and playing at the bridge. xx

My 2 are Syrians, so I have a soft spot for Patch, what a handsome and adorable ham! Love his photos!
Little Jinx is adorable.
Love all the photos,

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your two hams in such a short space of time, it must have been awful and I can't even begin to imagine going through it myself. You must be very brave.

But all your hams are very gorgeous and I'm sure they're all happy wherever they are

Thanks everyone for your lovely replies. I have to say i prefer Syrians but i still adore dwarfs. Today i went to PetatHome with a £15 pound gift voucher i got for christmas. I sadly didn't look at the animals much because i'm not ready for a new ham, i'm happy with two atm. Anyway i bought them both new water bottles (jinx's wasn't really functional due to the holder) and i got them some whimzee's (antos dog chews). Jinx didn't bother with his when i put it in but Patch came right out of his nest to explore and i took pictures of him with his first ever whimzee. Here some pics:

*i think Jinx may be plotting something judging by the pic of him.

Where would we be without whimzees lol! Glad to hear yours got to enjoy some, maybe Jinx will take a little longer with it but I expect he'll enjoy it in his own time, I've yet to have a ham who doesn't!

Yeah, Whimzee are quite cool and Patch nearly finished his in 3/4 days, and woke me up frequently when it banged against his cage while he was chewing it Anyway i've come to realize that Jinx is very catious when it comes to new food, and only eats a bit of it before leaving it. I'm hoping this will improve with time. I made them both a little treat thing tonight before i got in bed (and ended up stabbing myself with my blade due to Patch being impatient) and i took pictures of it and of them with it. :3
