Haha! I didn't expect this to turn into a Doctor Who thread while I was away. That Fez picture is too precious!
So the weekend went pretty well
The Doctor seemed pretty happy with his temporary cage while he was with us, and would happily take treats from me and my cousin's fingers (except the freeze-dried turkey. Sigh, I don't think I'll ever get rid of those things xP) though he was a little nippy when presented with treat-free fingers. He didn't seem aggressive, more curious, but I only had two days to start any taming processes.
I took my cousin home last night and got him set up with a nice big 20 gallon long tank (lidless, but after observing his climbing abilities for 2 days I was confidant that he couldn't climb out) and a deep layer of Kaytee paper substrate. He's got a granite rock with a rough surface for his claws, and enough food to last for a couple months.
My cousin was a very attentive pupil, and soaked up information like a sponge. Before I left their apartment he was writing out a feeding and treat chart to put above the cage (because being 11, if it's not written down, he forgets, lol).
Trickiest part of the whole thing was informing my aunt (his guardian) that this hamster CANNOT have fruit. No, I don't care what that half-page printout the pet store gave you says. NO FRUIT. Give him some raw broccoli or something, dang woman.
But the kid is smart and loving, and I'm confidant that The Doctor will be well loved and cared for
