Default Poor little Hammy..

Lastnight, or rather early this morning I had Hammy out in his playpen to have a run around. I was only going to give him an a little while because i was shattered!

So, there he was running in his wheel and having a great time, so i had a little lay down..Just a small one...

then the next thing i knew it was 3 and a half hours later and id been ASLEEP. O.O

Immediately checked on Hammy, who was in his little hidey hole and thankfully had'nt escaped his playpen. (Dont worry, he had access to water, 2 hidey holes, his wheel and a whimzee)
I put him back in his cage, he ate and proceeded straight to bed.

I dont know whats happening to me at the moment, it must be all this festive cheer tiring me out!

Have any of you guys done anything like this before?

I'm guilty as well, just last week my syrian woke me up around 7am to demand out time and i was too sleepy to try and pacify him. I put him inside the ball to run around the room but i dozed off. Woke up after an hour and was shocked to find him still inside the ball. when i put him inside his cage he was so thirsty and tired @-@

Aww it does make you feel guilty doesnt it!

I stayed awake to get him out, because i was still up at 3am anyway and thought he'd be awake in an hour or so i might aswell wait and have him out because with Christmas he wont be coming out tonight! I mean, he used to come out for that amount of time before i moved house but had access to his cage then!
I woke up at some point during my 3 hour siesta and he was still running in his wheel so hopefully he wasnt waiting around for me to put him back for very long.

Oh yeah, I have! Except I didn't just fall asleep, I left the room thinking I'd put my hamster back in her cage! She was actually sound asleep in the cozy house I'd provided her in the playpen Didn't realize it until the next morning when I heard shuffling coming from what should have been an empty play area. She wasn't in any danger since the playpen I was using that night is my spare Zoozone and she had food and water, but still...

Last time I left of Ziggy's latches open on his cage, and dared to fall asleep before his 5 30 am playtime..... (we're still working on that in couples therapy) ......I woke up four hours later and noticed a bit of disarray, some bedding flowing outside the cage, and a nearby food dish on a table on the floor.....

I'm so groggy and miserable in the morning? I didn't panic. I wasn't happy either though....then I look at his ball/wheel rack near the bed. And he was nestled in his ball at the foot of the bed half awake and watching as the human did his stumble about, crawl out of his nest, clean his fur, pee, and get ready for a new day....just like hammies!

I love it when hammies get bored of the whole escape thing and know when they got it good

It's Christmas and the run up to it, overdoing it can be tiring.
You must've needed the sleep.

Done it myself, last weekend, after an early dinner, I closed my eyes and the next thing it's after 8:30pm and I jumped up and Archie and Twinkle were standing at their bowls waiting for food.
They were fed over 2 hours late and I treated them with boiled egg and spinach along with their usual food.
The look I got from them as if to say "what time do you call this".
