Well I never thought I'd be typing this but today I sent Archie to Hammy Jail!
I'm against this kind of punishment dear Greysome but sometimes you have to - he was out in his ball and after half an hour I lifted him out and put him back in his cafe, not happy he had a tantrum, he dug up his wood shavings going all over the carpet, overturned his coconut hut, took his bedding out of his igloo and left it on the middle and top floors of his cage and to finish of he upturned his porcelain bowl of food.
I've never seen anything like it before - totally speechless!
I told him to go and tidy his cage and the little minx went and peed in his cage with pee spraying onto the carpet.
I put him in another room and ignored him.
However earlier this evening as I tidied up the mess in his cage, he came over and kissed my hand. Aww!
all's forgiven, he's out of jail.
He's been a little angel since lol.

you know, I might be wary if I wasn't so sure some 90% of the hammies running around with the papers hot off the presses was unable to resist tearing it to shred for some nesting material. As for those on the internet...well, I'm pretty sure once they find out Hazel Nut is a hammy and not, as her name hints, an actual hazelnut, the vast majority will lose interest. I'm quite certain they were all misled by the charge of "Free Hazel Nut," thinking "ohh! there's free hazelnuts!"

"Release Hazel Nut Now"
Someone get Hazel Nut an escape route asap, it's going to have to he better than "The Great Escape" film, cause Greysome's probably got that secure lol.
You know, if Hazel Nut Shawshank Redemptioned her way out, I would let her go simply because after all that work, I think she would have earned it. But she would have to do the entire escape sequence.

Hamsters have rights! lol!
I trust once they realize I sent a hammie to jail and not an actual hazelnut, many will find their indignation fading. Plus, y'know, she STOLE other hammies' nuts! I'm quite certain that breaks like...dozens of hammie laws.

Lol--it's good to hear Archie has learned his lesson! Hazel Nut tried to sweet talk me (or rather, kiss) me into letting her out early but I know better than to trust an addict who promises it will never happen again while furiously shoving food in their mouth. I know the munchies when I see it!

Greysome, I have to hand it to you...you made me laugh as much as Skeever and Braingirl usually do. I got such a kick out of how well you answered all the posts staying right on target with the storyline. Excellent!!!

Well this thread has definetly made me laugh

Eggbiscuit learnt something similar - she chewed through cages, opened doors e.t.c and generally was a chewy menace so she eventually found herself imprisoned in a chewproof cage. We won't even let her travel in anything thats not chewproof now lol

Lol, alrighty, then the Eggbiscuit Seal of Disapproval--with this seal, everyone will know it's safe from their plastic-loving hammies

Update on Hazel Nut: Hazel Nut has been released from jail and is now in the Slammin' Ham, aka her new cage. Though there was some concern at first, due to her casing the place and attempting, several times, to breach security, she seems to be taking to the place though a bit nervous as her half-way house is new and not as cluttered--erm, homey, as her previous homes/cell. This is due both partly due to its size and partly because it's newness prevents it from having the "lived in" accumulation of clutter which will be rectified in the coming weeks as Santa makes his visit and her first laundry day at the facility comes around. This court hopes she will show good judgement and cease any and all criminal activities and follow her probation.

Unfortunately, this court is sad to learn that her fellow brethren, Chublet "The Chubs" Meister has taken up after her example and has begun cage-chewing and attempting to find a way to escape his home (and Hazel Nut's former home). Fortunately, he has been unsuccessful (due, somewhat ironically, due to Hazel Nut's success and the ensuing security-measures taken) and does not display the same drive Hazel Nut has. On a brighter note, our lil Thumbelina, aka Teddy, has not displayed these delinquent behavior and has begun displaying her prowess in climbing and running (although the court agrees we could do without her moving her (now former) litter box so that her wheel hits it every time.
