I'll start with Sora, my newest edition. She's a very funny but strange ham. She does certain things which really makes me giggle, like for example she was a whimzee toothbrush which I always put on her platform, every morning she drags it around the cage to stash it in her bed. When you give her whole monkey nuts she frantically carries them around and stashes them, she loves cracking them open but I think she prefers opening the nuts more than she does eating them lol. This is her newest funny habit, last night (around 1am), my boyfriend was still up and I'd just woke up, we had the lamp and tv on. Sora knew we were awake and obviously wanted attention, so she climbed her water bottle and threw herself off to make loads of noise so we'd go over. When we went over, she climbed up my boyfriends arm to get out and get a cuddle lol. Sorry the picture isn't the best quality.


Next we have Yuki, taming is still on going with her, she's terrified of me but is slowly warming to my boyfriend. Since we switched her cage around, she loves her flying saucer. I think she tries to throw herself over the top of the cage to escape, I'm sure she's plotting something .


And last but certainly not least is my little Pocky. He's been very grumpy and lazy lately, I mean he was always my laziest hamster but I think with it being winter and him having a nice cozy bed he doesn't like coming out as much. When I check him though he's just sitting in his bed and gives me an evil glare for disturbing him lol. He's still cheeky and cuddly though, whenever he's out he's up on your shoulders and in your hood. There was a bag of food behind my boyfriend yesterday and Pocky was on his shoulders and he launched himself into the food bag (luckily I caught him first though) . And he loves sitting in his flower pot eating his millet.

Sora sounds like a real little character, she certainly knows how to get what she wants doesn't she lol!
My little Ziggy was just like her with whimzees & peanuts! I don't think he ever actually chewed a whimzee but he would always rush of to hide them in his nest & then sleep on them in case I tried to steal them & he loved the challenge of a monkey nut more than the prize inside too

It's always nice to see more of little Yuki! She really looks so cute on her saucer & I think hams are always plotting something the question is just what…

Can't blame Pocky for getting a bit lazy in winter, I wouldn't mind staying in a nice warm nest all day come to think of it! Love the shot of him in the flower pot

Hehe hamsters are funny Sora definitely chews hers . And that's the thing what do they plot? Yuki seems like she's trying to throw herself over the side of the cage so if the lid is off one of us has to stand guard by her flying saucer, just in case... and same, it would be nice to be a hamster wouldn't it?

After looking through the photos on my iPad, I've found a lot of old pictures of my hamsters that has brought back some memories. So I've decided it might be a nice idea to make a post about them, including the photos and the memories that go with it. Tonight I'm going to start off with my boys, Pocky and Miso, when they lived together. At some point I'll also do this for Yuki, Sora and both Pocky and Miso separately. I hope you guys enjoy seeing these pictures and reading the things I have to say about them, seeing these photos really hit me and I just thought it would be nice to share them on here with everyone.

So, I'll start off where it all began and give everyone a bit of a back story first. In August, I woke up one morning and asked my boyfriend if we could get a pair of dwarf hamsters (one each) for us to look after. I'd just started getting money and I really wanted a pet, so I figured now might be a good time to get one. After spending a couple of weeks convincing my parents, on the 22nd of August my mam took me and my boyfriend through to pets at home. We had already planned the names of our two little boys, 'Jaden' and 'Yuma' (from yugioh) were going to be their names. However, we found out that there were no pairs of dwarf hamsters available, but after speaking to the assistant she brought out a box of four week old dwarf hamster babies from the back and let us pick two. At first I wasn't bothered which one I had as they were all adorable, but a certain little character who was the only red eyed hamster caught my attention, similarly, the all white beauty with stunning black eyes caught my boyfriend's. We found out they were 'female' so quickly 'Jaden' was renamed Pocky and 'Yuma' was renamed Miso, although in the next few weeks afterwards we found out they were male. I hate seeing pictures of them in this horrible pets at home cage, but I quickly realised it was too small and upgraded the size of their cage twice before I was finally happy.



One of my favourite photos of the boys. I had a 42L storage box in my room which I quickly turned into a playpen for them. I found the playpen really good to help with taming them, plus it was really cute to see them running around in here, they'd always be really hyper when they'd go back into their cage. This is the storage box that became their first bin cage, they only lived in it for a couple of weeks then I bought a much bigger one from wilkos.


When they were finally tame enough to sit nicely in your hand. I honestly can't believe how small they were! Before Miso died he was pretty fluffy and bulky and Pocky is a very fluffy round little ham now.


When Miso was very young he went through a very random stage where he'd sleep with his face pressed up against the plastic (I'll post some of him individually when I do his best photos). This was one of the first nights when the boys moved from their pets at home cage to the smaller bin cage, I think he enjoyed sleeping against the cold plastic. And of course, Pocky couldn't be without his buddy when he went to sleep, so he used to snuggle up to him no matter where he slept.


Now moving on to when the boys were in their bigger wilkos cage. This is the first time they experienced their sand bath. I remember this night because it was the night before my boyfriend's birthday, I'd woken up and I couldn't get back to sleep so I came over and watched the hams, like I usually do. We'd decided to only let them use the sand bath under supervision as we were worried about them eating it, but eventually they just got it all the time. The boys were very happy and I spent a good hour and a half just watching the two of them playing in there.


This picture really makes my heart melt. At this point, the two boys were still best friends, they literally did everything together, including snuggling in cups. If one hamster would go to sleep in the cup, the other one would come over and curl up next to him, I gave them the choice of more than one cup but they always preferred to be together.


This is pretty much one of the last photos I have of the pair together. In the days after this, they began to grow apart from each other and wanted their own space. Pocky began to get more dominant over Miso, and Miso didn't seem happy at all. Part of me wishes that maybes if from the beginning they'd been put in a large cage with two of everything, they might have coped better together. But I know separating them was really for the best, as I would have hated for them to have had a proper fight. At least with them being separated, they had their own space and their own cage, and Miso got to enjoy the last two months of his life away from the stress of having a cage mate. However, the photo of them sharing cress will always make me smile, I remember I put the cress in for them and they sat together and shared it so peacefully.


And of course, I couldn't not include the pokeball photos! These are my favourite photos ever of the two of them, I can't take pictures of Yuki in the pokeball because she's not tame and Sora is too big, so this one will always be a nice special one for me. It was the background on my iPad for about 3 months and it used to make me smile every time I saw it (I've just changed it to a one of all four of the hamsters).


Sorry that the post was pretty long, but I hope you all enjoyed reading that and seeing my favourite photos of the two of them. After work tomorrow (depending on what time I finish) I'll find my favourite ones of Miso, Pocky, Yuki and Sora and I'll do a separate post for each. x

Awww bless them! It's so nice to see these photos of them together, it must bring back so many memories for you. It's so easy to forget just how tiny, not to mention cute, they are when we first get them, looking back at old photos is always a bit of a surprise to me!
I remember their adventures with the cress & it's nice to see that again, I just adore the shot of them in the flower pot too!

That vid of Sora is hilarious, Zephyr is always like that if I give her something too big for her to run off & stash somewhere, never fails to make me laugh!
